Two Teachers from USTB were Selected for the 12th CSM Metallurgy Youth Science and Technology Award

Recently, the Chinese Society for Metals (CSM) released the “Decision on Honoring the winners of the 12th CSM Metallurgy Youth Science and Technology Award ", and a total of 20 candidates nationwide have been awarded The 12th CSM Metallurgy Youth Science and Technology Award, among them, Prof. WANG Lijun, professor at USTB Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Technology, and Prof. LIU Xiaoming, professor at USTB School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering were selected.

The 12th CSM Metallurgy Youth Science and Technology Award is established, organized, and implemented by the Chinese Society for Metals, and is aimed at the vast number of young science and technology workers in the metallurgical industry. The award honors and rewards talents who have made outstanding achievements in the development of the metallurgical industry, social progress, and scientific and technological innovation, it aims to cultivate a group of young academic and technological leaders who have entered the frontier of metallurgical science and to promote the metallurgical industry scientific and technological progress and economic and social harmonious development, and to make new contributions to building an innovative country and a world power of science and technology.

Prof. WANG Lijun

The award-winning teacher, Prof. WANG Lijun, Ph.D. supervisor and professor at USTB Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Technology. Currently, she concurrently served as an editorial board member at J Ming, Metall B, and Metal World journals. Prof. WANG Lijun has long been engaged in research on the physical chemistry of high alloy steel refining and strategic metal extraction. She has been approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China for the Excellent Youth Fund Project, 10 invention patents, and published one monograph in Chinese and one in English. She has also won two First Prizes of Metallurgical Science and Technology of the Chinese Society of Metals, one First Prize of Science and Technology of Shanxi Province, and the Award of National Self-Funded Student.

2.jpgProf. LIU Xiaoming

The award-winning teacher, Prof. LIU Xiaoming, Ph.D. supervisor and professor at USTB School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering. He is also a director of the Chinese Silicate Society. He has been engaged in the research of solid waste resource utilization in metallurgy and other industries for a long time and has made a series of achievements in multi-solid waste collaborative material utilization. Prof. LIU has presided over more than 30 national, provincial and ministerial level and enterprise projects, edited and published one textbook, and authorized 24 invention patents. He has also been selected as one of the National Major Talent Project (Youth Project), "Course Ideological and Political Teaching Master and Team Member" of the Ministry of Education, and won two provincial and ministerial Industrial Science and Technology Progress Awards as the first finisher.

Young science and technology workers are the main force in building a powerful country in science and technology.
