Xu Huibin, professor, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In 1992, he received his doctorate degree from TU Berlin (Technische Universität Berlin), Germany. He is currently the President of Beihang University, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Deputy Director of the Sports Commission of the CPPCC, Deputy Director of the National Advisory Committee on New Materials Industry Development Strategy, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the President of Institute of Aeronautical Engineering Science and Technology Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.


Prof. Xu has for many years been engaged in the training of new personnel, scientific research and engineering applications of high-temperature materials in advanced aircraft engines. He has presided over a number of key national projects (including national defense) and achieved many successful results. He won 1 first prize and 1 second prize of the National Awards for Technological Invention, 4 first prizes for science and technology at the provincial and ministerial level, has more than 100 authorized invention patents, and authored more than 300 papers in top international academic journals. One of his doctoral students was presented the National Excellent Doctoral Thesis award, and another one was nominated. In 1994, he was awarded as part of the first batch of the "National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation". In 2000, he was honored by the Ministry of Education as a "distinguished professor of the Changjiang Scholars Program". In 2010, he was awarded the “Ho Leung Ho Lee” Science and Technology Progress Award. His scientific research was granted the title of "National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Team" in 2008, and in 2009 the title "Innovation Research Group" by the National Nature Fund Commission. In 2011 he was chosen to become an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
