The University of Science and Technology Beijing engages in a number of international cooperative partnerships and initiatives to provide its students and scholars opportunities to expand their horizons. As the first Chinese university to establish a formal partnership with a foreign university in 1979, USTB continues to innovate in expanding its global network and opening new programs to better serve its community.
- COURSE-TAKING
- RESEARCH AND INTERNSHIPS
DESCRIPTION: Students engage in a single semester to one year exchange with a partner university. Selection standards are more stringent, but students earn academic credit and are exempt from extra tuition fees.

DESCRIPTION: students may apply to a partner university and attend courses as registered visiting students. Upon completion of their studies USTB carries out the appropriate accreditation process.

DESCRIPTION:these programs, usually two or three weeks in length, are designed to increase students overseas experience, global vision and enhance cross-cultural communication.
Example Topics: social research, cultural immersion experiences, entrepreneurship and leadership courses
DESCRIPTION: the China Scholarship Council (CSC) launches scholarship programs to financially sponsor Chinese students of all levels to study abroad. The CSC encourages domestic universities to run high-level talents training programs with foreign universities. Participants can join training programs in partnership with international organizations, academic institutions, or foreign governments.
DESCRIPTION: jointly established in 2014 by USTB and De Montfort University in the UK, the Confucius Institute serves to provide Mandarin Chinese language and Chinese cultural courses to DMU students and the population of Leicester, where the Institute is situated. To date it has reached over 3200 students of all ages, aiding in the promotion of Chinese culture and history world-wide.
- GLOBAL INITIATIVE TO REALIZE UN DEVELOPMENT GOALS
DESCRIPTION: in partnership with De Montfort University (UK), USTB has joined the #UNTogether global initiative where students work together to realize the United Nation’s international development goals.

DESCRIPTION: USTB has engaged in mutually-beneficial partnerships with a large number of private research laboratories and industry leaders, particularly in the fields of materials science and metallurgy, to pursue cutting-edge research goals.

DESCRIPTION: create a platform to facilitate the introduction of high-quality talents to advanced, innovative projects to promote greater cooperation in scientific endeavors, enhance the university’s global influence, and meet China’s demand for international talent recruitment.
- PROGRAMS ADDRESSING A VARIETY OF ACADEMIC RESEARCH
DESCRIPTION: USTB participates in 5 intelligence bases and over 400 national intelligence projects that operate a wide number of programs for international talents. International experts are invited to participate in teaching and research in conjunction with university initiatives.
