The project “Nano self-cleaning photocatalytic materials” was headed by YANG Shengyao, a graduate from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, USTB, and the École Centrale Lyon in France. After the outbreak of COVID-19, the project team answered to the national call, focused on scientific research and developed a sterilized mask that can be repeatedly washed, as well as non-irritating photocatalytic compound disinfectants and many other related products, providing an important support for resisting COVID-19.
The program of “High-end aluminum alloy recycling technology for global infrastructure” was conductedby Dr. WANG Jianwen from the Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology. The program focused on the huge demand for the provision of high-end aluminum alloys. It achieves scrap aluminum recycling for production of aviation and high-speed rail, with production quality meeting standards in both China and the United States. The project has also signed a cooperation agreement with Boeing company, and obtained the company’s “cooperation and application” certification.
The project of “One-tree poverty alleviation” was founded by YANG Guoqing, Counselor of Shunde Graduate School. Relying on the social practice in summer vacation, the project mobilized more than 500 college students to carry out research and volunteer work in poverty-stricken areas for six consecutive years, finding solutions to more than 80 employment-related problems of rural households, and helping over 1,000 impoverished households altogether. In addition, the project promoted new poverty alleviation methods for college students.
The project “Social media MCN supported business platform for poverty alleviation” was founded by Master’s graduate Me. XIAO Xiangying from the School of Economics and Management. With the support of USTB’s seed program, XIAO Xiangying and ZHANG Yuzong, who has tens of millions of fans on Tik Tok, as well as postgraduate LI Fan from the School of Economics and Management, explored a “farmers+online business+web celebrity” model and organized activities to help farmers solve the problem of selling agricultural products. At present, the project has signed 13 cooperation agreements with enterprises in poor areas. The monthly sales volume of Guizhou chili powder had a total sales volume of over 100,000 products and a total turnover of over 5 million yuan, helping more than 200 local poor families.
