On March 15, Subodh Pandey, Vice President of Tata Steel Limited, led a delegation to visit University of Science and Technology Beijing. President LYU Zhaoping met with the guests.

LYU Zhaoping warmly welcomed Mr. Pandey and his delegation and briefly introduced USTB's history, disciplinary strengths, and the situation of scientific and technological innovation. He pointed out that the university has always been committed to serving the national strategy and the industry's development needs, and has developed distinct educational characteristics and advantages in fields such as metallurgy, materials, mining, and carbon neutrality. Currently, the green and low-carbon transformation of the steel industry is accelerating, and there is significant potential for cooperation between universities and enterprises. He expressed the hope that both sides will further enhance communication and coordination, deepen cooperation in key fields such as low-carbon steel manufacturing, promote in-depth integration of industry, academia, research and application, and jointly facilitate the implementation of more high-level cooperation achievements.
Mr. Pandey thanked USTB for the warm hospitality and introduced Tata Steel Limited’s strategic initiatives and progress in green and low-carbon development and technological innovation. He commended USTB’s long-standing academic excellence and pioneering contributions to steel-related research. He expressed his expectation to further expanding cooperation between both sides based on the solid foundation of the prior cooperation stage and jointly contributing to the green and sustainable development of the iron and steel industry.
Representatives from USTB’s Office of International Affairs and the Institute for Carbon Neutrality Research attended the meeting.
This engagement significantly strengthened mutual understanding and strategic trust between USTB and Tata Steel Limited, establishing a robust platform for future collaboration, especially in advancing next-generation low-carbon steel manufacturing technologies.
