On April 9, a delegation from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, led by its Rector Tor Grande, visited the university to engage in in-depth discussions on advancing comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two institutions. USTB President LYU Zhaoping and Vice President ZHANG Weidong attended the meeting.

LYU Zhaoping extended a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of the university. He noted that since the signing of the inter-university cooperation agreement in 2011, the two institutions have achieved fruitful outcomes in academic exchanges and research collaboration. Looking ahead, both sides will further expand cooperation areas, innovate collaboration models, and promote deep interdisciplinary integration and coordinated development, jointly setting a new benchmark for pragmatic and efficient cooperation between Chinese and Norwegian universities.

Tor Grande spoke highly of the long-standing and productive partnership between the two universities. He emphasized that NTNU places great importance on the integration of industry, academia, and research, as well as international scientific collaboration, with notable strengths in areas such as energy technology and mechanical engineering. He expressed his hope that both sides will deepen comprehensive engagement, enhance exchanges of faculty and students, strengthen research collaboration, and advance talent cultivation, thereby elevating educational and scientific cooperation between China and Norway to a new level.

During the meeting, LYU Zhaoping and Tor Grande jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding, continuing and expanding upon the 15-year partnership between the two institutions.

Representatives from the Office of International Affairs, along with relevant schools, also attended the meeting.
