On March 16, a delegation led by TANG Tian, the Vice-Provost of the University of Alberta, and HUANG Cen, Senior Special Advisor for China Affairs, visited the university. WANG Luning, Vice President of USTB, attended the meeting.

WANG Luning extended a warm welcome to TANG Tian and her delegation, and expressed his sincere gratitude for their long-term care and support. He pointed out that the two sides have always maintained close communication in areas such as talent cultivation, exchanges between teachers and students, and scientific research cooperation. He hoped that in the future, the two universities could continue to expand the scope of cooperation, enhance the level, and promote the relationship between both sides to a new stage.
TANG Tian expressed her gratitude for the warm reception at USTB. She pointed out that the educational concepts of two universities are highly recognized, which has reached a broad consensus for deepening practical cooperation between the two sides. She emphasized that strengthening international cooperation is key to cultivating outstanding talents with a global perspective, and looked forward to the launch of a joint student training program, which would provide a high-quality development platform for students of both universities.
During the meeting, both sides conducted in-depth discussions on the joint training models of advantageous disciplines such as materials, metallurgy, and mining, exchanged views on the next cooperation plans and innovative models for talent cultivation, and reached an initial consensus.
This visit has laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two sides. In the future, the two universities will join hands and work together to continuously explore the potential for cooperation, enrich the dimensions of cooperation, create a model of Sino-Canadian exchanges, and jointly build a high-level international platform for talent cultivation and scientific research innovation.
Representatives from the Office of International Affairs, School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and School of Resources and Safety Engineering, attended the meeting.
