From October 7 to 11, President YANG Renshu led a delegation to Austria for an exchange visit. They attended the 10th anniversary celebration of the cooperation between USTB and Montanuniversität Leoben, and visited internationally renowned enterprises such as Voestalpine and RHI Magnesita, aiming to expand the in-depth cooperation between China and Austria in the fields of education and technology, and comprehensively enhance the internationalization of the university's educational pattern.

The Visit to Montanuniversität Leoben


Visited the Exchange Students of USTB at Montanuniversität Leoben
During the visit, the delegation attended the 10th anniversary celebration of the cooperation between USTB and Montanuniversität Leoben. They had a deep discussion with Peter Moser, the rector of the Montanuniversität Leoben, on further strengthening the cooperation between the two universities in aspects such as the reform of the full-chain innovation talent cultivation model. YANG Renshu stated that over the past ten years, the two universities have always been committed to the cooperation concept of "openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning, practical innovation, and win-win development", promoting the deep and practical exchanges and cooperation between the two universities. He emphasized that he looked forward to further expanding the joint student training and exchange programs, and forming synergy around global issues such as green metallurgy, sustainable development, and new and renewable sources of energy, to jointly shape a high-level talent cultivation and scientific and technological innovation system for the future. During the visit, the delegation also paid a friendly visit to the exchange students of USTB at Montanuniversität Leoben, encouraging them to study diligently as well as hone their abilities, and to transform their knowledge into a powerful driving force for serving national construction.

The visit to Voestalpine
The delegation visited the production base of Voestalpine in Leoben, conducted on-site research on its advanced production technology and management model, and had in-depth exchanges on deepening cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, and integration of industry, academia, and research.

The visit to RHI Magnesita
During the visit to the RHI Magnesita, YANG Renshu held talks with Dr. Thomas Prietl, the head of Global R&D and Innovation at RHI Magnesita, and his team. He elaborated on USTB’s development history, disciplinary characteristics, and strategic layout for international cooperation. He emphasized that the school's disciplinary strengths in metallurgy and materials are highly consistent with the global strategy and technological demands of RHI Magnesita, and there is huge potential for cooperation between the two sides. He expressed the hope of building a closer cooperative relationship and jointly exploring new models of school-enterprise cooperation. At the meeting, both sides reached a cooperation intention on issues such as international talent cultivation through industry-education integration, scientific research cooperation, and technology transfer, and then discussed the initial cooperation plan.
This visit further consolidates the mutual trust relationship between the USTB and Austrian partners, expanding the path and network of high-level international cooperation. This not only provides strong support for USTB to continuously promote the "Double First-Class" construction, build a first-class domestic engineering education and research center, as well as a world-class metallurgy and materials education and research center, but also injects new motivation into enhancing USTB’s influence in the global engineering education and scientific and technological innovation fields.
