On September 21, the opening ceremony of the 17th USTB international Cultural Festival was successfully held at the Olympic Rings Square. Prof. JIAO Shuqiang, Vice President of USTB, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. With the theme of “Weaving Dreams Across the Galaxy, Sharing Splendor Around the World”, this year's festival featured 47 cultural booths and attracted over 400 teachers and students at home and abroad to participate in it, painting a fantastic picture of the enduring friendship between Chinese and international youth and the exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and global civilizations.

Addressing at the opening ceremony, Prof. JIAO Shuqiang noted that this year marks the 5th anniversary of the President XI Jinping’s Important Reply to all Pakistani Students at USTB. In his letter, President XI Jinping encouraged the students to communicate more with Chinese youth and join hands with youth from other countries to promote connectivity between the people and build a community with a shared future for mankind. Prof. JIAO Shuqiang pointed out that the friendship between nations grows from the bonds between their people, and those bonds are forged when hearts truly meet. He called on Chinese and International students to fully showcase themselves, strengthen their cherished friendship in USTB, and inject more cultural charm and youthful vitality to the university.

During the entrance procession, representatives of international students from various countries and regions, dressed in traditional costumes and waving their national flags, walked onto the stage. Their youthful exuberance and high spirits shines the inclusive and diverse cultures of their respective nations.

Wonderful Performances at the Opening Ceremony
In the artistic performance segment, students from Mongolia, North Korea, Cambodia, Turkmenistan, and other countries took the stage one after another, presenting artistic performances deeply rooted in the cultural heritage and unique charm of their respective nations. The event featured both instrumental ensembles and passionate choruses by Chinese and international students, which continuously drew waves of cheers and ignited the atmosphere of the entire venue.

Exhibition Booth Exchanges
During the exhibition booth exchange segment, Prof. JIAO Shuqiang visited the booths of various countries and engaged in cordial conversations with Chinese and international students. MENG Xia, an international student from Italy, prepared authentic and delicious Italian pasta on site and shared the differences in food cultures with the audience. YANG Lingling, an international student from Ukraine, showed her country's embroidery culture and introduced its historical origins. LUO Ran, an international student from the Tsingshan Group in Indonesia, expressed his excitement about studying in USTB and participating in the International Cultural Festival. He hoped to fully demonstrate the friendly exchanges between China and Indonesia and also bring the advanced knowledge he learned at the university back to Indonesia to contribute to the country's metallurgical industry.
As a flagship project of USTB’s international student education, the International Cultural Festival reflects the outstanding images of international students at the university and provides a broad platform for promoting the integration and exchange of diverse civilizations. With continuous innovation in form, enrichment in content, and elevation in level in recent years, it has gradually become a brand demonstration event with significant influence in the field of international student education in the city. This year's festival is also one of the series of activities commemorating the 5th anniversary of the President XI Jinping’s Important Reply to all Pakistani Students at USTB. In the future, USTB will continue to implement the spirit of President XI Jinping’s important reply letter and continuously contribute USTB’s wisdom and strength to promoting mutual understanding among people around the world and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
