Delegation Led by Prof. WANG Qinglin, Chair of the Standing Committee on Emerging Technologies of the FEIAP, Visits USTB for Research and Exchange

On September 11, the delegation led by WANG Qinglin, Member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Standing Committee on Emerging Technologies of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP), visited USTB to conduct research and exchanges on promoting the cultivation of engineers who meet international standards. Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, and Prof. JIAO Shuqiang, Vice President of USTB attended the symposium, which was chaired by Prof. JIAO Shuqiang.

Speech by Prof. YANG Renshu 

Prof. YANG Renshu introduced USTB’s construction in the “Double First-Class” initiative, innovative talent cultivation models, and international development. He noted that with distinct academic strengths, USTB has long maintained close collaboration with industries and enterprises, while remaining committed to cultivating future-oriented first-class engineering talents. USTB continues to advance the "Bridge Project" in support of the Belt and Road Initiative, paving the way for international cooperation in technological innovation and talent development, contributing to global industrial and innovation chains.

Speech by Prof. WANG Qinglin

Prof. WANG Qinglin stated that international organizations such as FEIAP are constantly advancing the standardization of engineering competency criteria, facilitating the mutual recognition of international engineer accreditation standards, and promoting the international mobility and cooperation of high-level engineering talents. Universities are important participants and impetus of this process and they will face new development opportunities in the future. He expressed the hope that USTB will fully leverage its disciplinary and talent advantages to cultivate more high-level engineers who are up to the international standards, thus making greater contributions to serving the development of the Global South and advancing international engineering education.

During the meeting, ZONG Yanbing, Dean of the School of Advanced Engineering and Executive Dean of the National College for Excellent Engineers USTB, reported on USTB’s exploration and achievements in reforming the cultivation of high-level engineering talents. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on promoting cooperation in engineering education and capacity building.

Representatives from the Office of International Affairs and the School of Advanced Engineering participated in this meeting.
