USTB Holds “Strength of Steel, Shared Wisdom for Xiong’an: Connecting China and the World for a Shared Future” Forum and the Launch Ceremony of the International Youth Xiong’an Initiative

On May 17, USTB held the "Strength of Steel, Shared Wisdom for Xiong'an: Connecting China and the World for a Shared Future" Forum and the Launch Ceremony of the International Youth Xiong'an Initiative. LI Qing, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Scholarship Council; LI Yanguang, Director of the Department of International Student Affairs; MA Yun, Director of the Division of International Student Affairs of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange; HU Ziyuan, Director of the Scholarship Division of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation; YANG Lei, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Xiong'an New Area, and Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Director of the Education Bureau; CHEN Jun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Deputy General Manager of China Xiong'an Group; as well as relevant leaders, faculty members, and student representatives from 14 universities including Peking University, Beihang University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University, attended the event. ZHENG Anyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC USTB Committee, attended the event and delivered remarks.

ZHENG Anyang introduced USTB's achievements in university development and international student education. He noted that, as one of the first universities to be relocated to Xiong'an, USTB upholds the philosophy of "integrating into Xiong'an, taking root in Xiong'an, and contributing to Xiong'an." The university is willing to work with all parties to leverage its strengths in international education and guide international youth in contributing to the internationalized and high-quality development of Xiong'an.

LI Qing and YANG Lei delivered remarks respectively. They recognized USTB's role in advancing China's opening-up in education, and expressed the hope that universities would take the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important reply letter as an opportunity to deepen innovation in talent cultivation. They also encouraged international youth to come to Xiong'an, learn about Xiong'an, and contribute to the building of Xiong'an, so as to make their own contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

During the forum, ZHANG Baojun, Vice President of Beijing Language and Culture University; LI Qianwen, Vice President of Nanjing Audit University; DING Xuezhong, Dean of the College of International Cooperative Education at Harbin Engineering University; and WEN Guangrui, Dean of the School of International Education at Xi'an Jiaotong University, among other experts, delivered keynote presentations on implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important reply letter and promoting the high-quality development of international student education in China. From diverse perspectives, they shared reflections and practices on advancing international student education across different regions and universities in the context of building China into a leading country in education.

International students also gave themed presentations titled "Seeing China: Knowledge in Action." In simple and heartfelt language, they shared what they had seen, heard, and felt during their study and life in China. Their stories offered vivid impressions of the Chinese government and the Chinese people as approachable, admirable, and respectable, and sincerely expressed their love for and gratitude to China.

Launch Ceremony

At the Launch Ceremony of the International Youth Xiong'an Initiative, international students from more than 30 countries and regions studying at 14 universities issued the Xiong'an Initiative to young people around the world. Inspired by President Xi Jinping's important reply letter, they called on more aspiring international youth to study in China and in Xiong’an, and to join hands with young people from around the world in contributing to people-to-people connectivity and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
