Inauguration Ceremony of the Confucius Classroom Co-established by the Confucius Institute at De Montfort University and Beauchamp College Held

On June 18, the inauguration ceremony of the Confucius Classroom co-established by the Confucius Institute at De Montfort University and Beauchamp College was held at Beauchamp College. Attendees of the ceremony included the delegation from the Confucius Institute at De Montfort University, as well as school leaders, teachers, parents, and student representatives from Beauchamp College.


   


ZHANG Yi, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at De Montfort University, and Alice King, Principal of Beauchamp College, delivered enthusiastic speeches respectively, extending warm congratulations on the official inauguration of the Confucius Classroom. They stated that this initiative would serve as an opportunity to further promote and advance Chinese language education and cultural exchange between China and the United Kingdom in the Leicester region.


The two former Chinese directors of the Confucius Institute at De Montfort University, YANG Yingjun and GU Wei, also conveyed their sincere congratulations via video. Volunteers from the Confucius Institute and teachers and students of Beauchamp College jointly presented a series of cultural performances, including a recitation of the poem Invitation to Wine accompanied by music and a folk song performance of Jasmine Flower. In addition, student representatives from Beauchamp College performed songs, dances, and Chinese tongue twisters for the audience, fully demonstrating their strong enthusiasm for Chinese language learning and their excellent achievements.

Finally, ZHANG Yi and Alice King jointly unveiled the Confucius Classroom, marking a solid new step forward for the Confucius Institute at De Montfort University in local Chinese language teaching and cultural exchange.
