On June 17, Professor Peter Kukla, Dean of the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, and his delegation visited our university. JIAO Shuqiang, Vice President of the university, attended the meeting. The two sides held discussions on further deepening cooperation and signed a cooperation agreement. The symposium was chaired by Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs PAN Jiaqi.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of cooperation between RWTH Aachen University and University of Science and Technology Beijing . JIAO Shuqiang welcomed Professor Kukla’s visit at this significant moment and introduced the university’s new achievements in various undertakings in recent years. He stated that the university will continue to work with RWTH Aachen University on the path toward building a world-class university, promoting mutual benefit, shared development, and win-win cooperation, and further enriching the connotation of their partnership.
Professor Kukla conveyed greetings on behalf of RWTH Aachen University President Ulrich Rüdiger. He noted that over the past 45 years of cooperation, the two universities have produced a series of important research achievements and cultivated a large number of outstanding talents. He expressed the hope that the long-standing friendship will be continued and that cooperation and mutual support in fields such as materials science and metallurgy will be further strengthened in the future.

Subsequently, Vice President JIAO Shuqiang and Professor Kukla jointly attended the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement on behalf of the presidents of the two universities.
WANG Min from the Major Accident Prevention and Control Technology Support Base for Metallurgical Industry and HU Bin from the School of Metallurgy and Ecological Engineering, both alumni who previously studied at RWTH Aachen University, shared their experiences during the symposium, noting that cooperation between the two universities will benefit more outstanding young students in the future.
Staff from the university’s Institute of Science and Technology Research, Graduate School, Office of International Affairs, the School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering, and alumni representatives of RWTH Aachen University participated in the exchange and discussion.
