On June 24, Tarl Prow, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Science at the University of York, United Kingdom, and his delegation visited our university. The delegation included Professor HUANG Zhihong, Head of the Department of Healthcare Engineering, School of Physics, Engineering and Technology; WANG Ling, China Partnership Deputy Representative; and FENG Haiyue, China Cooperation Officer. WANG Luning, Vice President of the university, attended the meeting, and the two sides held exchanges on deepening educational cooperation.

At the symposium, WANG Luning briefly introduced the university’s disciplinary strengths and achievements in talent cultivation. He emphasized that this exchange will further promote substantive cooperation between the two universities in areas such as student exchange programs, faculty mobility, and collaborative scientific research, achieving complementary advantages and mutual benefit.

Tarl Prow provided a detailed introduction to the University of York’s development history, disciplinary structure, and talent training characteristics. He stated that educational exchanges between China and the United Kingdom are of great significance in enhancing mutual understanding and promoting the internationalization of universities. The University of York will actively advance cooperation and continuously enrich the connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two universities.

Subsequently, the two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including joint talent cultivation programs and Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, reaching multiple cooperation intentions. The symposium was jointly attended by representatives from the Academic Affairs Office, Development Planning Office, Office of International Affairs, and the Institute for the History of Science, Technology and Culture.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the university museum to gain an in-depth understanding of the university’s development history and achievements in international exchanges.
This visit effectively enhanced mutual understanding between the two sides, broadened areas of cooperation, and injected new momentum into the future development of the strategic partnership. The university will take this cooperation as an opportunity to continuously optimize its internationalized education system, build high-level international exchange platforms, cultivate innovative talents with global vision and strong sense of national responsibility, and contribute to the high-quality integration of Chinese and British higher education.
