The new school will draw on USTB's engineering and research strengths to develop interdisciplinary programmes, promote collaboration between universities and industry, and support the growth of high-tech sectors in Xiong'an. It is also expected to serve as a platform connecting innovation, industry, investment, and talent.

More than 100 representatives from 46 universities and 32 companies attended the launch ceremony at the Xiong'an International Hotel. Participating institutions included Peking University, Renmin University of China, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Nanjing University, as well as China Mineral Resources Group, Beijing Automotive Group, and BBMG Corporation.

Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering LU Chunfang, SHAO Anlin, and JIN Zhixin attended the event. They were joined by YANG Lei, member of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Administrative Committee of Xiong'an New Area; USTB Party Secretary XU Xiaoping; USTB President LYU Zhaoping; and representatives from academia and industry.

YANG Lei, XU Xiaoping, LYU Zhaoping, and the school's dean, GU Wei, jointly unveiled the new school.

Speaking at the ceremony, YANG said the school's establishment closely aligns with Xiong'an's ambition to become a centre for global innovation and a model of high-quality development. He said Xiong'an New Area would support the school through policy, facilities, and funding, enabling it to explore new approaches to education and innovation in support of national development priorities.

LYU described the School of Business for Science and Technology as part of USTB's forward-looking effort to reshape conventional business education. By combining engineering expertise with business and management studies, he said, the school will explore new models of interdisciplinary education, cultivate innovation-oriented professionals, and contribute to regional industrial development.

He added that the school will support the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the continued development of Xiong'an New Area. Its goal is to become a hub connecting the innovation, industrial, financial, and talent ecosystems while supporting the growth of emerging industries.

During the ceremony, XU presented appointment certificates to members of the school's International Advisory Board. The school also appointed guest lecturers and industry experts and signed a series of university-industry research cooperation agreements.

The programme also featured keynote presentations by LU Chunfang and JIN Zhixin, who discussed technological innovation and management in major engineering projects, as well as the role of technological advancement in developing new forms of productive capacity.

In the afternoon, the inaugural Technology and Business Innovation Forum brought together university and industry representatives for discussions across two parallel sessions. Participants explored the future of economics and management education in the digital era, talent development, AI-enabled integration of industry and education, and the evolving role of business schools.

Through the School of Business for Science and Technology, USTB aims to bring technological expertise and business education into closer alignment, creating new opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching, applied research, and collaboration with industry in Xiong'an and beyond.
