From January 28 to 30, President LYU Zhaoping of the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) led a delegation to Zhejiang Province for visits and exchanges, and met with alumni based in the region.
During the visit, the delegation toured several alumni-founded or affiliated enterprises, including JINSHI Resources Group, Ningbo Ligong Environment and Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and China United Engineering Corporation. They also held discussions with representatives from related enterprises of Ningbo Huikang Industrial Co., Ltd. Alumni representatives from various organizations—including the Zhejiang Alumni Association, the Vehicle (Mining Machinery) Alumni Association, the Ningbo Alumni Association, the Wenzhou Alumni Association, and the Wuxi Alumni Association—participated in the exchange activities. Discussions focused on topics such as the efficient utilization of mineral resources, the development of green technologies, and the advancement of industry–university–research collaboration.
A donation ceremony for the “Ligong Energy Technology Fund Project” was held during the visit. President LYU Zhaoping presented alumnus ZHOU Fangjie with a donation certificate and commemorative plaque, and expressed sincere appreciation on behalf of the University for his continued support for his alma mater and dedication to advancing education. ZHOU Fangjie reflected on his memorable experiences as a student and expressed gratitude for the University’s cultivation. He noted that the donation represents his commitment to supporting younger students and contributing to the steady development of the University’s educational endeavors.
During the exchanges, President LYU Zhaoping highly commended the important contributions made by USTB alumni in Zhejiang to regional development. He also introduced the University’s strategic plans and alumni engagement initiatives, encouraging alumni to continue serving as a bridge between the University and society. Alumni participants shared their experiences of development in Zhejiang and expressed a strong willingness to give back to their alma mater and support closer collaboration between the University and local regions.
In recent years, with the support of its extensive alumni network, USTB has achieved fruitful cooperation with Zhejiang. Over the past three years, the total value of horizontally funded research contracts has exceeded RMB 136 million, while funding for nationally sponsored vertical research projects has surpassed RMB 34 million. The University has also received 32 provincial- and ministerial-level (or above) science and technology awards. This visit has further strengthened the foundation for collaboration. Moving forward, the University will accelerate the implementation of strategic partnerships with Zhejiang, leveraging scientific innovation and talent cultivation to contribute to the development of advanced manufacturing in the province and to support the University’s high-quality growth.
Representatives from the Party Committee Office, President’s Office, Office of Cooperation and Development, Infrastructure Management Office, Logistics Management Office, Alumni Affairs Office, Education Foundation Office, and the Xiong’an Campus Construction Headquarters accompanied the delegation.
