Chasing dreams on the pitch and rekindling alumni spirit, an exciting friendly match between alumni teams of the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) and Beihang University kicked off on the afternoon of March 7 at the USTB football field.
Bringing alumni together through football, the match provided a platform to reconnect, compete, and relive the passion of youth, as players showcased their skills and camaraderie on the field.
The Beihang “100Li” Alumni Football Team, composed primarily of core players from various Beihang alumni teams across different generations, is widely recognized as a strong contender within Beijing’s university alumni football community. The team has achieved outstanding results in numerous competitions both on and off campus.
As one of the season’s most anticipated opening fixtures against an external opponent, the match drew strong attention from both sides, with players demonstrating high levels of preparation and competitive spirit.
The USTB Alumni Football Team fielded a notably diverse and strengthened lineup. Veteran players in their 60s brought experience and composure, while those in their 40s and 50s formed the backbone of the team. Younger alumni injected energy and pace, and overseas returnees added further depth and expertise. This well-balanced age structure reflected the team’s continued growth and rising overall strength.
The Beihang “100Li” team was equally well-prepared, calling up several experienced players aged 40 and above in pursuit of a high-quality contest.
Following three intense periods of play, USTB narrowly lost by a single goal. Despite the result, the team fought until the final whistle, demonstrating resilience, determination, and strong sportsmanship.
