WANG Luning

Biography

Prof. WANG Luning, Vice President of USTB. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from USTB in 2002 and Tsinghua University in 2005, respectively. He participated in an interdisciplinary program in the Medical School at University of Alberta and obtained a master's degree in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging and Mechanical Engineering in 2007. He then joined Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the same institute and was awarded a doctoral degree in Materials Engineering in 2011. He was awarded Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Visiting Fellowship to work as research fellow at University of Calgary in 2012. In 2013, Prof. WANG joined USTB as a professor supported by the "1000 Young Talent Plan". From 2017, he served as Dean of School of Materials Science and Engineering of USTB. His research directions include metallic implant, surface modification, and degradation of metals in physiological culture. He has authored/co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed journal papers. He was awarded TMS best poster awards twice in Biological Materials Session in 2010 and 2011. He also served as a committee member in the 'Thin Coating and its Application' session in TMS 2012 and TMS 2013. Prof. WANG holds the membership in TMS and Society of Electrochemistry, and served on the editorial boards of  Journal of Materials Science & Technology  and  Rare Metals .

Prof. WANG has served as the Vice President of USTB since May 2021.
