To further integrate research and publishing and to serve the university's "Double First-Class" initiative and high-quality disciplinary development, on August 29, the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) and Elsevier jointly held the "Bridging Research and Publishing: Elsevier–USTB Academic Day". Editors-in-chief, editors, and publishing experts from Elsevier and several world-renowned academic journals gathered with USTB faculty and students to engage in in-depth discussions on scientific frontiers and academic publishing.

In his opening remarks, USTB Vice President Jiao Shuqiang extended a warm welcome to all the guests and highlighted the university's leading disciplines such as metallurgy and materials science. He noted that USTB and Elsevier share a solid foundation of cooperation in academic publishing and international dissemination, and expressed his hope that this Academic Day would further enhance the academic capabilities and publishing awareness of USTB faculty and students, contributing to the university's disciplinary development.

Sun Yan, Managing Director of Elsevier STMJ China, remarked that both Elsevier and USTB have a rich historical legacy. Over the years, the two sides have strengthened mutual trust and contributed numerous leading scientific achievements to the international academic community. She expressed the expectation that this Academic Day would continue to spark intellectual exchanges and inject new vitality into global scientific development.

The Academic Day featured academic lectures, publishing presentations, and roundtable discussions. Distinguished scholars from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, along with senior publishers and publishing ethics experts from Elsevier, engaged in exchanges with USTB faculty and students.

This Academic Day was an important initiative for advancing USTB's internationalization and strengthening its disciplinary development. It not only further deepened the collaboration between USTB and Elsevier but also provided faculty and students with a valuable platform to directly interact with world-class publishing teams. The successful event is expected to significantly promote the international dissemination of USTB's research achievements, enhance its academic influence, and inject fresh momentum into the university's goal of building a world-class institution and a global center for education and research in metallurgy and materials.
