On November 3, Mr. WU Guilong, Chancellor of USTB and Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB led a team to the headquarter of Beijing Jianlong Heavy Industry Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Jianlong Group”) for inspection and exchange. The two sides had an in-depth interaction on the cooperation of key scientific research projects, joint talent cultivation and future cooperation areas. Mr. ZHANG Zhixiang, President of Jianlong Group; Mr. RUAN Xiaojiang and Ms. HUANG Dan, Vice Presidents of Jianlong Group; Mr. WU Guilong, Chancellor of USTB; Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB; Mr. ZAHNG Weidong, Prof. YAN Xiangbin, and Prof. WANG Luning, Vice Presidents of USTB, attended the meeting. The meeting was held by Ms. HUANG Dan.
At the meeting, Prof. YANG expressed his gratitude to Jianlong Group for its continuous care and support to USTB and highly affirmed the outstanding contribution made by Jianlong Group to promote the development and progress of the steel industry. He expressed his hope that both sides would further strengthen comprehensive cooperation in the future, jointly build a platform for scientific and technological innovation, carry out in-depth cooperation in scientific research projects and make efforts to form landmark research results. USTB will effectively integrate the talent training program with the needs of enterprises, train and transport high-level professional talents for enterprises in the process of domestic and even international layout.
Mr. ZHANG Weidong made a systematically situation of USTB’s basic information, the development of the school, scientific research in the steel industry, and future cooperation prospect with the title of "Taking the Spirit of the President XI Jinping’s Important Reply Letter as Guidance, the Two Sides Jointly Develop a New Situation of Win-win Cooperation in the Field of Iron and Steel"; Prof. ZHANG Jianliang, Secretary General of the Party Committee at School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering; and Mr. HE Ruian, Dean of Institution of Engineering and Technology introduced the cooperation between the schools and Jianlong Group's scientific research projects on iron and steel.
Mr. ZHANG Zhixiang pointed out in his speech that he hoped that through this interaction, the two sides could establish a high level and more in-depth comprehensive strategic cooperation. In terms of scientific research, the two sides can jointly set up a first-class R&D team, build a scientific and technological innovation platform with a high starting point and high specifications around major technical fields, and Jianlong Group is willing to invest in the construction of laboratories and the bases of pilot-scale test and joint training of talents. In terms of talent cultivation, Jianlong Group hopes that USTB can give full play to its advantages, combine with the enterprise's talent needs, break the original discipline restrictions, and conduct interdisciplinary talent orientation training. In terms of “going out”, combined with the overseas layout of the enterprise, both sides can jointly explore the construction of metallurgical colleges and universities to cultivate international metallurgical professionals.
Mr. WU pointed out in his speech that USTB and Jianlong Group have a very deep foundation of cooperation and combined with the urgent needs and high attention of Jianlong Group to science and technology innovation, USTB will fully support the two sides to carry out a high level and more in-depth comprehensive strategic cooperation. He said that will focus on the joint construction of the science and technology innovation platform proposed by the Jianlong Group, as soon as possible to sort out the docking in different areas and explore the establishment of a good institutional mechanism. Combined with the layout of the Jianlong Group in overseas planning, USTB will take advantage of its own international high-end talent resources, and actively explore a new mode of joint training of international professionals. We hope that both sides will continue to promote the depth and breadth of cooperation, and finally achieve the goal of all-around, multi-disciplinary, and deep-level strategic cooperation.
During the discussion session, participants had in-depth exchanges on expanding cooperation in scientific research projects, cultivating high-level talent, green and low-carbon development, and jointly building platforms of scientific and technological innovation.
