On February 17^th, the 2021 and 2022 Awards Conference of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse (DSG). The 2021 and 2022 Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Awards will be awarded to 112 outstanding scientists. Professor QU Xuanhui from the USTB Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology was awarded the 2022 “Science and Technology Progress Award” by the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation.

Prof. QU Xuanhui is one of the earliest researchers on power injection molding technology, he has been long dedicated to research in advanced powder metallurgy forming technology such as powder injection molding, high-speed press forming, 3D printing, and special powder preparation and synthesis technology, etc. Prof. QU’s invention of a new process of powder injection molding of special materials has led to a leading research level and industrial scale of the technology in the world, which solved the “bottleneck” problem in the development of equipment of many important models for China. He has published more than 520 academic papers, published 5 books, and obtained more than 160 patents. Prof. QU has won 1 first prize for National Teaching Achievements, and one 2^nd prize for National Scientific and Technological Progress, he has also won the “China Youth Science and Technology Award,” “National Excellent Science and Technology Workers,” “Beijing Excellent Teacher,” “Baosteel Excellent Teacher,” and other honors.

Prof. QU Xuanhui is not only an innovative research worker but also a “First-class teacher.” He always regards fostering virtue through education as his top priority and integrated the idea of “serving the country with materials and powering the country with iron and steel” into the process of talent cultivation. Prof. QU has been teaching undergraduate and graduate students and has supervised more than 300 graduate students. After graduation, many of them have been selected into national and provincial outstanding talent programs. Prof. QU has led his team to be selected as the “Beijing University Excellent Undergraduate Education Team” in 2020 and the “National University HUANG Danian-style teaching team” in 2022.

The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation is a Hong Kong-based non-government organization founded by patriotic financier Ho Sin Hang, Leung Kau-Kui, Ho Tim, and Lee Quo-wei in 1994. The Foundation’s mission is to reward Chinese scientists who have made outstanding achievements, further promote the good fashion of respecting knowledge, valuing talents, and advocating science in the whole society, and encourage generations of scientists and scientists to constantly climb the peak of science and technology, and accelerate the process of national modernization. About 50 people are awarded each year nationwide.
