On July 1, 2020, Professor Dawei Zhang from Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology of University of Science and Technology Beijing was elected as East Asia and Pacific (EAP) Area Chair of NACE International. Established in 1943, NACE International is the largest corrosion organization worldwide, serving over 37,000 individual and corporate members from 140 countries. NACE International aims to promote the development of global academic and technical exchanges, training and certification and technical standards to protect people, assets and the environment from the adverse effects of corrosion. The EAP Area of NACE International consists of 18 sections and 7 student sections from China, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and other countries and regions.
Dawei Zhang, Professor of University of Science and Technology Beijing, Director of BRI Southeast Asia Network for Corrosion and Protection of Ministry of Education of China, Vice Chair of Marine Fouling and Protection Committee of Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection. He also serves as Editor of Corrosion Science and Editorial Board Member of npj Materials Degradation , Acta Metallurgica Sinica (English Letters) and Corrosion Engineering Science and Technology . He is interested in fundamental and applied corrosion research including smart protective surfaces, microbiologically influenced corrosion and corrosion big data, and has published over 100 papers on journals including Nature, Corrosion Science, Journal of Materials Chemistry A and Chemical Engineering Journall. He has been awarded by the Beijing Nova Program and received Science and Technology Progress Award from Ministry of Education of China and Beijing Technology Invention Award.
