On the afternoon of September 10^th, the 2021 USTB Teachers’ Day Celebration and Commendation Conference for Teachers was held in Auditorium & Staff Activity Hall at USTB. Mr. WU Guilong, Chanceller of USTB; Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB; Prof. HU Zhenghuan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering; Mr. DAI Jinggang, Vice Chancellor and Secretary General of the Discipline Inspection Committee of USTB; Prof. YU Chengwen and Prof. SUN Jinghong, Vice professor of USTB; Mr. ZHANG Weidong and Prof. YAN Xiangbin, Vice Presidents of USTB attended the conference. Over 150 representatives of award-winning teachers, heads of departments, and teachers attended the conference. All other members of faculty and students watched the commendation online. The conference was presided over by Prof. SUN Jinghong.

Prof. YANG Renshu delivered an ebullient speech. On behalf of the university, he extended warm congratulations to all the award-winning advanced individuals and groups. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks and holiday wishes to all teachers, staff, and retirees who dedicated themselves to teaching and contributed to the reform and development of USTB.

The commendation began with inspiring music. The conference commended teachers who have made outstanding achievements in talents cultivation, education and teaching, scientific research, ideology and politics, and management service. Mr. WU Guilong and Prof. YANG Renshu presented certificates to the award-winning teachers. Students presented flowers to the representatives of the winning teacher.

In the second part, Mr. ZHANG Weidong announced the list of the winners of the “Professional Honor Award”. This year, a total of 235 members of faculty has won the Award, including 62 gold, 47 silver, 84 bronze, and 42 honorary awards.

In the third part, Prof. LU Xin, the 2021 National May 1^st Female Pacesetter and chief professor at Advanced Powder Metallurgy Titanium Materials Laboratory of USTB, delivered a speech on behalf of award-winning individuals. She said that as university teacher, we should give priority to talent cultivation and should be good, willing as skilled at it, so as to cultivate more qualified and excellent successors for our nation.

Prof. YAN Yu, outstanding young researcher and professor at Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology of USTB, gave a speech on behalf of the award-winning research teams. He said that he would remain true to his original aspiration of scientific research and serving the country, teach and educate, practice the motto of “Seeking Truth and Promoting Innovation”, follow the frontier of disciplines, face up the application of major projects, and contribute to the “Double First-Class” construction of USTB.

Prof. SHEN Yanan, winner of Gold “Professional Honor Award” and “Honorable Retiree Award”, spoke on behalf of senior teachers. She encouraged young teachers not only to teach students in classroom, but also influence students with rigorous academic attitude and serious mindset on work, and guide students to establish a positive outlook on life and values.
