On May 25^th, USTB and the Jianlong Group held the online signing ceremony of the Joint Laboratory of Green and Low-carbon Smelting and Comprehensive Utilization of Resources (hereinafter referred to as the Joint Laboratory) and the Opening Ceremony of the First Batch of Scientific Research Projects. Mr. ZHANG Zhixiang, President of the Jianlong Group; Mr. GAO Quanhong and Ms. HUANG Dan, Vice President of the Jianlong Group; Ms. ZHANG Xinyu, President Assistant of the Jianlong Group; Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB; Prof. ZHANG Weidong, Vice President of USTB; Prof. MAO Xinping, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Technology attended the meeting, which was presided over by Mr. CAI Haoyu, Vice Minister of Engineering Technology Department of Jianlong Group.

Prof. ZHANG Jianliang, Executive Deputy Director of the Joint Laboratory and Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Metallurgy and Ecological Engineering at USTB, introduced the preparation of the Joint Laboratory from four aspects of the laboratory construction plan, management mechanism, laboratory fund management and status of the first batch of scientific research projects, and read out the members of the Joint Laboratory and Technical Committee.

Prof. YANG Renshu pointed out that signing the contract to build the Joint Laboratory is a practical action to implement The Spirit of President XI Jinping's Important Reply to Senior Professors at USTB. He said that the university will fully support the construction of the Joint Laboratory, deepen cooperation between the university and enterprise, and ensure that the organization, personnel, mechanism, and responsibility are in place. He wished that Joint Laboratory can fuse Jianlong Group’s technological innovation demand with USTB’s advantage disciplines supply, focus on the science and technology research and development, the talent training mechanism and platform construction, develop a comprehensive, multi-field and interdisciplinary cooperation, to speed up the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into real productive forces, leading iron and steel industry development, become a  production-teaching-research combination technology innovation and application platform in the new era, and a demonstration base for the gathering, exchange and training of comprehensive high-tech talents, as well as a new benchmark and model for school-enterprise cooperation.

Prof. MAO Xinping said that Jianlong Group has always attached importance to scientific and technological innovation and has a long history of cooperation with USTB. The Joint Laboratory is a new starting point for deepening cooperation between the two sides. He pointed out that all the six opening projects focused on the problems of the industry and were very representative. He believes that with further cooperation between the two sides in the future, the Joint Laboratory will be further strengthened and well built, producing remarkable results in scientific and technological innovation.

Mr. ZHANG Zhixiang pointed out that it is of great significance for Jianlong Group and USTB to build an innovation platform on the basis of good cooperation. He said that Jianlong Group is in the process of development and transformation in the new era, and has a huge demand for scientific and technological innovation in energy, environmental protection, mining, and other aspects. He stressed that the Joint Laboratory should highlight the features of simple and efficient systems and mechanisms, implement innovative models and ensure the stability and sustainability of bilateral cooperation. He expects the Joint Laboratory to produce early, more and bigger results, and realize in-depth cooperation in personnel training and technological innovation in scientific research projects.

Subsequently, the signing ceremony was held. Prof. ZHANG Weidong and Ms. HUANG Dan respectively signed the Joint Laboratory construction agreement on behalf of the two sides. Mr. ZHANG Zhixiang and Prof. MAO Xinping unveiled the Joint Laboratory.

After the ceremony, the two sides held the opening meeting of the first batch of scientific research projects in the Joint Laboratory and reported and reviewed the current situation of six cooperation projects, including the research on the pulverization technology of high-pressure liquid carbon dioxide ore.

The leaders of four departments of the Jianlong Group including the Engineering and Technology Department and its affiliated units attended the meeting. As well as the leaders of the School of Metallurgy and Ecological Engineering, School of Civil and Resource Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy, School of Energy and Environmental Engineering, Changping Innovation Industrial Park, and other relevant units of USTB attended the meeting.
