USTB held the International Think-Tank and the Expert Consultation Meeting of the Bluebook of Overseas Development of Mining Industry

On July 17th, the construction of the International Think-tank for Sino-foreign Cultural Exchange in the Mining and Steel Industry and the Expert Consultation Meeting of the Bluebook of Overseas Development of Chinese Mining Enterprises was held online. Prof. LV Zhaoping, Vice President of USTB attended the meeting.

Prof. LV Zhaoping delivered a speech on behalf of USTB. He welcomed the experts and briefly introduced the development of the university and the construction of the Think-tank, as well as the importance and support of the university to the Think-tank of the Research Institute for Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange in Mining and Steel Industry. He hoped that the experts could suggest the construction of the think tank of the Research Institute.

Prof. CHEN Hongwei made the introduction speech

The Research Institute for Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange in Mining and Steel Industry (hereinafter referred to as the “Institute”), Prof. CHEN Hongwei, associate dean of the Institute, introduced the construction of the Think-tank in detail from three aspects: the general situation of the Think-tank, the enterprise services, and the international Think-tank research. At the same time, she puts forward the characteristics of the Think-tank, the construction path, and the form in which the results are presented. Mr. WANG Bing, leader of the Central and Eastern European Research Group of the Institute, made a progress report on the Bluebook of Overseas Development of Chinese Mining Enterprises (from now on referred to as the “Bluebook”), which introduced the research background of the Bluebook, domestic and international research status, research plan, as well as key points and difficulties.

Prof. LI Yuming, Chancellor of the Beijing Language and Culture University; Ms. TANG Yun, Director of the Center of Major Projects of Sino-foreign Cultural Exchange at the Ministry of Education, Prof. REN Fujun, former Dean of National Academy of Innovation Strategy, and Mr. XIN Shunkang, Vice President and Secretary General of Former Chinese Diplomats Association acknowledge the early successes in the construction of the Institute. In addition, they put forward constructive suggestions from the perspectives of the research audience, the concept of the Think-tank, the decision-making report, and the political stance based on the construction of the Think-tank of the Institute and the current situation and potential problems of the Bluebook.

Mr. ZHU Debin, Director of the Global & Area Studies at the Social Sciences Academic Press (China); Prof. XU Liping, Director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studie at the Institute of Asia-Pacific and Global Strategy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Prof. ZHAI Shilei, Director of the Center for Australian Studies at the China University of Mining and Technology, and other experts provided different perspectives and professional guidance on the construction of the Think-tank and the writing of the Bluebook based on their own experiences.

Prof. LV carefully listened to the advice of the experts and made a summary speech. He expressed gratitude for the relevant opinions and suggestions from the experts attending the meeting. He said that the university would further discuss and implement the relevant opinions, promote the construction and development of the Think-tank of the Institute in a multi-aspect manner, focus on the characteristics of the industry, and strive to form a batch of influential Think-tank results.

Prof. FENG Qiang, Dean of the USTB Department of Science and Technology and Director of the USTB Office of International Affairs; Prof. ZHANG Dawei, Executive Associate Head of National Materials Corrosion and Protection Data Center; Prof. ZHANG Meifang, Associate Dean of Institute for Cultural Heritage and History of Science and Technology; members of the management team of the Institute and core teachers of the Think-tank attended the meeting.

The Successful convening of the expert consultation has clarified the construction train of thought of the International Think-tank for Sino-foreign Cultural Exchange in the Mining and Steel Industry and pointed out the direction for drafting and writing the Bluebook of Overseas Development of Chinese Mining Enterprises.  The Institute will take this opportunity to make continuous efforts in academic research, enterprise services, policy consulting, publication of results, and other aspects, and strive to build a new type of international Think-tank with Chinese characteristics, industry characteristics, as well as USTB characteristics.
