USTB Sees New Achievements in Publishing High Quality Journals in the Field of Nonferrous Metals

Recently, the Nonferrous Metals Society of China released their “ Academic Journal Quality Guide " in the field of nonferrous metals. The International Journal of Minerals, Metallurgy  and Materials  and Chinese Journal of Engineering of USTB were ranked T1 level, and were each designated as " A-level China Nonferrous Metals Journal " in the "Fourth China Nonferrous Metals Excellent Publications Selection Plan". In addition, Powder Metallurgy Technology and Metal World were each designated as "B-level China Nonferrous Metals Journal".

Since 2018, the China Association for Science and Technology started to publish the " Academic Journal Quality Guide " to establish criteria for the evaluation of achievements in academic research of Chinese scientific and technical workers. The Guide makes clear comparisons between academic journals abroad and promotes domestic researchers to publish their results in Chinese journals, in order to promote the fostering world-class science journals. In July 2019, in an official document published by the China Association of Science and Technology, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China titled " A guideline on deepening reform for fostering world-class science journals ", the document emphasized the importance of creating a high quality academic journal rating guide, and set systematic criteria for evaluating the quality of journals. According to the guidelines, the journals in each subject area are divided into T1, T2 and T3 levels. T1 indicates the journals at this level are almost the quality of world-class science journals. T2 refers to internationally well-known journals, and T3 refers to recognized high-level journals. In the recent edition, a total of 212 journals (including 107 Chinese journals published in English) were included in the Academic Journal Quality Guide in the field of nonferrous metals, including 48 at T1 level, 74 at T2 level and 90 at T3 level.

USTB journals always focus on innovation. To foster world-class journals and implement "Double First-class" strategic program, USTB is committed to improving the university's academic level and international influence of academic journals and improve overall professional skill, strengthen internationalization efforts, and reforming the publishing and management of journals.
