In celebration of the 70th anniversary of its founding, USTB together with the Nonferrous Metals Society of China (Nfsoc) and the Mining Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals (CSM), successfully hosted the 2022 Global Forum of Mining Engineering Deans on April 10th and 11th. Held online and offline simultaneously, the Forum was joined by 14 deans, academicians and experts specializing in the field of mining engineering, minerals processing engineering, and rock mechanics from 11 world-renowned universities. Under the theme of "Innovation-driven and Future-oriented Mining Engineering", they shared inspirational viewpoints on two agendas -- "The Future of Mining Engineering -- Low-carbon, Efficient, and Intelligent" and "The Transformation Education in Mining Engineering in the Age of Industry 4.0".
Prof. YIN Shenghua, Dean of the School of Civil and Resources Engineering, chaired the Forum. Other invited participants include Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB; Prof. WU Aixiang, Chief Editor of International Journal of Minerals, Metallurgy and Materials (IJMMM); Prof. ZHOU Hongwei, Dean of The School of Energy and Mining Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing); Prof. SUN Wei, Dean of the School of Mineral Processing and Bioengineering, Central South University; Prof. FENG Qiang, Director of the Office of International Affairs, USTB; Mr. HE Jin, Director of the Offices the Alumni Association and the USTB Education Development Foundation; Mr. MIAO Shengjun, Secretary General of the Party Committee, School of Civil and Resources Engineering; Prof. JI Shujuan, Director of the Journal Publishing Center; Prof. JIANG Wei, Deputy Director of the Journal Publishing Center; and Dr. HUANG Donghua, Director of Editorial Office of IJMMM.

2022 Global Forum of Mining Engineering Deans
During the two-day Forum, invited academicians, deans, and experts delivered wonderful reports on the current situation of mining engineering in their respective countries, prospects for the future, and long-term cooperation plans with China.
Prof. YIN Shenghua Made a Summary Speech
At the end of the Forum, Prof. YIN Shenghua made a summary speech. He pointed out that this Forum was taken as an opportunity to not only display our achievements in the discipline of mining engineering over the past 70 years and the ideas for future development but also greet the 70th anniversary of USTB with these outstanding successes.
As an important platform for academic exchange and cooperation, the Global Forum of Mining Engineering Deans will continue to expand, open up communication channels between colleges and universities at home and abroad, and deepen cooperation and mutual learning. Therefore, a solid foundation can be laid to further improve the capabilities of research and innovation of USTB' s mining engineering discipline, as well as the level of talent cultivation. On top of that, it can help to build a higher international stage for USTB' s "Double First-class" construction. USTB will work together with experts and scholars from all over the world to seek common development in education, talent cultivation, scientific research, and many other aspects, and create a better future for the discipline of mining engineering.
