Recently, Dr. LI Xiaogang, a Professor at the Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology, USTB, was promoted to be the editor-in-chief of npj Materials Degradation .
Founded in 2017, npj Materials Degradation is a high-quality, open-access journal in the field of materials corrosion and degradation, published by USTB Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Materials Genome Engineering, USTB National Materials Corrosion and Protection Data Center, Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection (CSCP), and Springer Nature Group. It publishes papers on metal and non-metallic materials comprising natural and synthetic materials, to be more specific, corrosion and degradation mechanisms, kinetic theory, experimental properties, and simulation research of metallic and non-metallic materials, etc. As the first fully open-access journal in the field of corrosion and degradation of materials, this journal has been included in the Web of Science and the Scopus journal database with an impact factor of 5.9.
Since its founding, the journal has committed to providing a first-class academic communication platform for scholars in the field of material corrosion worldwide. In the past two years, international exchanges and cooperation in various fields have been affected by Covid-19. Under this circumstance, Professor LI Xiaogang has been promoted to editor-in-chief of the journal. He will continue to enhance communication among researchers in this field so that the latest research findings and breakthroughs can be disseminated more efficiently and widely around the world. On this occasion, Springer Nature Group interviewed Prof. LI Xiaogang to make the readers get a better understanding of Prof. LI and the journal.
Biography of Prof. LI Xiaogang:
Dr. LI Xiaogang is a Professor at the USTB Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology and the USTB Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Materials Genome Engineering. Currently, he serves as the Director of the National Materials Corrosion and Protection Data Center of China and Deputy President of the Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection (CSCP). He has long been engaged in the research on the natural environmental corrosion laws of materials and applications of corrosion-resistant steel engineering, put forward the academic view and research system of material corrosion big data, and developed a series of materials big data intelligent monitoring technology and database technology. He is a Fellow of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), European Federation of Corrosion (EFC), and CSCP, and received the Technical Achievement Award from NACE, the W.R. Whitney Award, two National Science and Technology Progress Awards of China, and seven Provincial Awards.
