Recently, Prof. WAN Xiangyuan’s group reported great progress in their research on lipid metabolism-related genes and the reproductive development of plants (picture 1). Their results were published online in  Molecular Plant , a sub-journal of  Cell , on May 17^th, 2020.

Additionally, Prof. WAN Xiangyuan’s group from USTB cooperated with research scientists Prof. ZHANG Jinsong and Prof. CHEN Shouyi from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Science, to find a new ethylene signal transmission pathway in rice roots (picture 2), which provides a new theoretical support for genetically improving the crop’s adaptive responses to water saturated environments. Their research results were recently published in the  Nature sub-journal  Nature Communications .

Since the establishment of the Biology and Agriculture Research Center, USTB, in December 2016, USTB has assembled outstanding talents with the support of the university who have already reported a number of notable achievements. The Center has published more than 30 academic papers in internationally renowned journals including  Nature Communications ,  Molecular Plant ,  PNAS ,  Plant Cell  , and  Plant Biotechnology Journal .
