Five Achievements of USTB Won the State Science and Technology Awards

On June 24th, the 2023 National Science and Technology Award Conference was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. A total of five outstanding scientific and technological achievements in USTB won the 2023 State Science and Technology Awards, including one State Natural Science Award and four Second Prizes in the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award. The list lists three scientific research results led by USTB as the first completion unit.

The project "High Entropy Alloy Organization Regulation and Toughening Mechanism" hosted by Prof. LYU Zhaoping won the Second Prize in the State Natural Science Award; the project "Green and Clean Steelmaking Technology and Application Based on Resourceful Utilization of Carbon Dioxide" hosted by Prof. ZHU Rong, the project of "Precise Blasting Technology Innovation and Application for Underground Engineering Safety" hosted by Prof. YANG Renshu, the project of "Functionalization and Green Design, Preparation of Refractories and Their Support to Green Manufacturing of Steel" hosted by Prof. LI Yong, and the project of "Intelligent Mining of Underground Metal Mines" by Prof. YANG Jue won the Second Prizes in the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

USTB deeply implements the major decisions and deployments of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, gains a deeper understanding of the spirit of President XI Jinping's Important Reply Letters, and actively contributes to the innovative development of the iron and steel industry as well as the green and low-carbon development. In the future, the majority of science and technology workers in USTB will also continue carrying forward the spirit of pragmatism and innovation, to make new and greater contributions to the development of science and technology and modernization in China, and to make efforts to achieve the Chinese Dream for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

This year's State Science and Technology Awards selected 250 projects and 12 scientific and technological experts, including two scientists for the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, 49 projects for the State Natural Science Award, 62 projects for the State Technological Invention Award, 139 projects for the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and ten scientists for the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
