On the morning of September 2nd, the opening ceremony of USTB 2021 undergraduates was held in the stadium.

As the representative of the alumni, Ms. GONG Lijiao, a 2007 Business Administration major alumna of USTB and the gold medalist of women's shot put at the Tokyo Olympic, sent a heartfelt message to her younger schoolmates through a video. She combined her own experience as an athlete to call on the students to seize the day, live up to their youth, and establish lofty beliefs, absorb the power to forge ahead, make their own contribution to the Party and the country. At the end of the video, Ms. GONG expressed her gratitude her alma mater and wished all the freshmen of 2021 to grow up and make progress continuously, so as to become better USTB students in the new era.

Mr. Aislimujiang Parzhati, the executive chairman of USTB’s student union, spoke on behalf of the current students. He called on the students to be assiduous in learning, dare to try, take responsibility, and leave a string of solid footprints in No.30 College Road. He also wished all the students to engrave a beautiful mark and write their youthful chapters with unremitting progress and passionate struggle.

Ms. YU Jiayi from the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering spoke as a freshman representative. She called on the students, as dream pursuers, to have expectations for the future and inherit the school motto, "Seeking Truth and Innovation". At the same time, they should focus on the present to make progress and practice the characteristic of "Pursuing Excellence". Furthermore, they should stick to their ideals and cherish the vision of "loving the Party and serving the country".

Prof. ZHANG Hu from the School of Materials Science and Engineering spoke on behalf of the undergraduate supervisors. He put forward three expectations to the new students based on his own life experience in the USTB for more than 20 years. He wished all of them to live up to their youth, seek truth, and make the best of themselves during the most wonderful time.USTB President YANG Renshu delivered an ebullient speech. President YANG encouraged the students with their experience of “Born in the SARS, tested in the COVID-19” that youth represent infinite possibilities. He explained the profound cultural heritage, outstanding innovation spirit, and excellent teachers' ethics based on the development history and outstanding achievements of USTB.

At the end of the ceremony, all 2021 freshmen sang the school anthem "Beike Huazhang" together, the atmosphere was a warm and inspiring, which draws a successful conclusion to the opening ceremony. Following the rhythm of the school anthem, the new students will pursue their dreams in youth, and water their future with sweat. Bearing the expectation of their teachers and the responsibility of the era, they will open a new chapter of their life at USTB.
