After the initial evaluation and recommendation of each unit and the approval from USTB leading group for student evaluation and commendation, a total of 17 “Class of 87 Alumni Fund Best Team” candidate classes and 17 “Postgraduate Pacesetter Collective” candidate collectives were selected. During the defense presentation, the candidate collectives, in accordance with the order of drawing lots, presented their collective building practice from collective building,  research and innovation, social practice, and other aspects through means of video or PowerPoint. By sharing stories of growth and development of a dynamic, positive, and excellent class collective, the participants presented a sound collective atmosphere.

After the defense, the teachers and students watched “My Class, My Home”, demostration videos of award-winning classes in 2019 and 2020. The judges fully affirmed the exploration and contribution of each collective in building primary level organizations, and highly evaluated the performance of the collectives in collective building, research and innovation, social practice and other aspects. Mr. YIN Zhaohua, Deputy of Department of Student Affairs, congratulated the winning groups and hoped that the whole school, both graduate and undergraduate, should take advantage of the event to summarize pattern and experiences, and accelerate result promotion. He called on all students to learn from the winning groups through diligent study, setting up ambitions, sharpening character, develop skills, so as to achieve all-round development.

After fierce competition, 10 classes, including Class 181 from School of Energy and Environmental Engineering, won the title of 2020-2021 “Class of 87 Alumni Fund Best Team”; 3 classes, including Class 1901 from School of Materials Science and Engineering, won the “Best Demeanor Award”; and 10 collectives, including Postgraduate Class 207 from School of Mechanical Engineering, won the title of 2020-2021 “ Postgraduate Pacesetter Collective”. USTB will selectively recommend those winning classes (collectives) to participate in gaining awards of Beijing Advanced Class Collective and the Outstanding Primary-level Organization of “My Class, My Home” among Universities in Beijing.

In recent years, USTB has applied the Party’s innovative theory to guide practice and promote work, constantly improving the award and honors recognition system, and constantly developing the evaluation in a more scientific and demonstrative way. USTB also attaches great importance to the building of student primary-level organizations, relying on the annual student collective competition, give full play to the cohesion, guidance, and service role of outstanding collectives. Make primary-level organizations to serve as a platform for students to cultivate ideals, study hard, broaden horizons, and enhance talents, thus helping them to pursue development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and social practice in all-around aspects.
