From June 11th to 16th, in accordance with epidemic prevention and control measures and the requirements set out by the Ministry of Education, China, the USTB 2020 doctoral entrance examination was held online. In order to help each department carry out the examination online, the Graduate School utilized online interview platforms including “Cloud Exam”, “DingTalk”, “Tencent Meeting”. Over the course of 6 days, 133 evaluation teams including more than 700 experts from 19 departments analyzed 1,137 students based on their academic and professional achievements, foreign language skills and comprehensive qualities. The exams were supervised by Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, Prof. XUE Qingguo, Vice Chancellor and Vice President of USTB, Prof. WANG Weicai, Vice President of USTB, Prof. ZANG Yong, Vice President of USTB and Prof. LV Zhaoping,Vice President of USTB.
In order to make sure the examinations were completed successfully, USTB began planning at an early stage. First, according to the requirements of the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Education Examinations Authority, USTB produced several instructional documents for carrying out the exams. Second, on June 2nd the postgraduate admissions leading group held an online meetingto plan out the implementation of the exams. Third, USTB adjusted its assessment methods and made detailed explanations on the requirements of the written test. Furthermore, they specified the procedures for carrying out the online examination. For example, candidates were required to use two cameras for the test, undergo a pre-exam exercise, and allow their computer screen to be monitored throughout the exam in order to prevent fraud. Fourth, the university coordinated with staff and technicians from related departments such as the Office of Pandemic Prevention and Control, Department of Public Affairs & Communication, Department of Student Affairs, Department of the Registrar, Office of Information Technology, Department of Campus Security and Department of Facilities and Maintenance Management for service and support.
Thanks to the diligence of USTB staff, this year's doctoral entrance examination was well-organized and completed due to the preparations and coordination of multiple departments.
