"An obstinate and unruly coach leads a group of underdogs to achieve an encouraging classic decisive battle, dedicated to those who’re not favored and expected." The film "Ping Pong: The Triumph" mainly tells the story of the Chinese men's table tennis team defeated by the "European Powers" in the early 1990s, when the coach DAI Minjia, who had been studying abroad, asked to return home and led the new recruits and veterans to train hard in Tianjin to fight back against the “European Powers” and save the men's table tennis team. The film is produced by HENGYE PICTURES, co-directed by DENG Chao and YU Baimei, and co-written by YU Baimei and MENG Hui. It is a sports movie starring DENG Chao, SUN Li, XU Weizhou, DUAN Bowen, CAI Yida, DING Guensen, SUN Xilun, and Aruna. More than 300 teachers and students of USTB, together with the film production team, looked back at the early 1990s when the National Men's Table tennis team, under the leadership of the coach, fought the darkness, rose from the valley bottom and fought back. They felt the unity and perseverance of the Chinese nation and the belief of never giving up in the laughter and tears, and paid tribute to the patriotism of the national team players who fought hard and never gave up.

"Chinese ping-pong! Never give up!" At the end of the film, the audience erupted into prolonged applause. DENG Chao, the director, and leading actor sent a video greeting to the teachers and students of USTB, followed by cordial communication among YU Baimei, the director, WU Jing, DUAN Bowen, CAI Yida, DING Guansen, and USTB teachers and students. The film production team took the stage to share with the audience the creative inspiration of "Ping Pong: The Triumph." The students responded positively, made active speeches, asked questions sincerely, and shared their feelings about the movie. The atmosphere was very warm.

6.jpgDirector YU Baimei shared his experience

YU Baimei, the director and scriptwriter of the film, believes that as a sports film, “Ping Pong: The Triumph” not only hopes to show the sportsmanship of challenging limits and fighting together but also hopes to provide spiritual comfort and faithful support to more ordinary people. In his opinion, athletes go through hardships, aspire to breakthroughs, challenge limits, and strive to realize their dreams, and the biggest inspiration that athletes pass on is how to challenge failure and overcome themselves. The students said that they were deeply inspired. Before watching the movie, they never thought that Chinese table tennis had ever had such a difficult time. They did not expect that behind every medal there are hardships and sweat far beyond our imagination. As students of USTB, as "steel lads" and "iron girls", we will strive to become "high-caliber talent with high ideals, professional competence and strong will to serve the country."

In the next step, the USTB Communist Youth League Committee will continue to carry out a variety of themed educational activities, to comprehend the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party, to absorb the striving force in the new era, and to cultivate more high-caliber talent with high ideals, professional competence, and strong will to serve the country, who remain true to the Party.
