The 12th National Electronics and Information Young Scientist Forum was Held at USTB

On November 3rd, the 12th National Electronics and Information Young Scientists Forum was held at USTB, sponsored by the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) and co-organized by the Young Scientist Club of the CIE, USTB, and ZTE Corporation. The theme of the Forum was “Industrial Internet Enables High-Quality Development of Iron and Steel Metallurgy Industry,” and the participating experts and scholars conducted academic discussions and exchanges on topics such as the development of related disciplines, education, and teaching, the transformation of achievements and integration of science and technology and economy.

The forum's opening ceremony and theme sharing were hosted by Mr. LI Qing, Secretary General of the Party Committee at the USTB School of Automation and Electrical Engineering (SAEE), and Prof. ZHANG Chaohui, President of SAEE.

Mr. ZHANG Yi, on behalf of the CIE, extended a warm welcome to all young scholars and experts attending the conference. He introduced the CIE and welcomed more outstanding young scholars to join the Young Scientists Club of the CIE. He pointed out that in the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC, it was proposed that “science and technology is the first productive force, talent is the first resource, and innovation is the first power.” Young scholars should give full play to the advantages of information technology, continue to improve the digitalization, informatization, and networking level of iron and steel metallurgy enterprises, and promote the continuous transformation and upgrading of the iron and steel metallurgy industry.

Prof. Zhang Weidong said in his speech that USTB is honored to host this forum. He pointed out that the iron and steel metallurgy industry is a primary industry that supports the development of the national economy and is also the main force of intelligent manufacturing and the main battlefield of green industrial development. Promoting the integration of iron and steel metallurgy with the new generation of information technology and realizing the intellectual and green development of iron and steel metallurgy meet not only the national requirements but also the general trends of industry development.

Mr. ZHU Yongtao, on behalf of ZTE Corporation, expressed heartfelt thanks to all the guests and participants. He pointed out that the iron and steel metallurgy industry, as the leading force in industrial digitalization, shouldered the heavy task of solving production uncertainty, improving management accuracy, and improving production safety using innovative technology. It is necessary to accelerate scientific and technological innovation to promote the iron and steel metallurgy industry to achieve intelligent, low-carbon, and high-quality development in a comprehensive way.

During the forum, Prof. FENG Qiang and Mr. Lin Xiaodong signed a strategic cooperation agreement between USTB and ZTE Corporation. Prof. ZHANG Weidong and Mr. Zhu Yongtao unveiled the “Joint Innovation Center for New Industrial Networks and Applications” jointly built by the two sides.

The 5G industrial control network-related products and technical solutions jointly developed by USTB and ZTE were released by video. The displayed double crown block remote control system is a new generation 5G-TSN integrated network with end-to-end low delay and certainty guarantee, which is developed and built by the laboratory, using the self-developed cloud PLC system to realize material identification, positioning, and sorting based on machine vision; The self-developed PLC system has broken through the problem that the traditional PLC software and hardware, the control and controlled equipment are not decoupled. Through software and hardware decoupling, containerization, and virtualization, the cloud mode that PLC can be deployed on demand has been realized; cloud-based PLC controls six motors of double crown block, belt transmission system, and air pump system for material sorting at the same time, which verifies the feasibility of industrial control software and cloud. In addition, based on the general processor and real-time operating system, the PLC control system, machine vision processing system, and 5G network are organically combined to achieve the integration and collaboration of industrial control, communication, and computing, that is, the cross-domain integration of IT, OT and CT are realized, which can effectively reduce equipment investment, simplify operation and maintenance, and explore new ideas for industrial digitalization and green transformation.

Mr. WANG Jianquan delivered a themed report

At the theme-sharing session, Prof. WANG Jianquan, Dean of USTB Research Institute of Industrial Internet, delivered an academic speech on the theme of “Research on the Key Technologies and the Evolution of Architecture of Industrial Internet” and expounded on the necessity, value, and significance of software and cloud-based industrial control from the perspective of meeting the development trend of the new generation of information technology and deep industrial integration. He put forward the direction of multi-disciplinary integration in the future and reported the research and development progress and phased achievements of industrial control software/cloud and 5G-TSN collaborative integration.

In addition, around the theme of the forum, Mr. Ma Jin, General Manager of the Metallurgical and Steel Business Department of ZTE Corporation, presented the topic of “Building an Industrial Control Computing Base to Help the High-quality Development of Metallurgical Industry” Ms. LIU Lanbing, Secretary General of Metallurgical Intelligent Manufacturing Standardization Working Group, presented the topic of “The Goal, Practice, and Vision of Standardization of Iron and Steel Intelligent Manufacturing,” Dr. LIU Xin from Ansteel gave “Research and Application of New Manufacturing in Iron and Steel Industry,” and Mr. MENG Xianyu, Technical Director of Chalco Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd. Presented the topic of “Research and Application of Smart Manufacturing in Metallurgical Industry.” Mr. WANG Pan, Deputy General Manager of Yunnan Shenhua Aluminum Metallurgy Division and Director of Smart Factory Office, expressed his wishes for the successful holding of this forum through video.
