On February 27^th, the donation ceremony of the "Shanxi Jianbang Fund" and the awarding ceremony of the "Shanxi Jianbang Scholarship" in 2022 were held in Conference Room 306 of the Administrative Building.  Mr. WANG Guopeng, Deputy General Manager of the Shanxi Jianbang Group Co., Ltd., (hereinafter referred to as the “Jianbang Group”), and Prof. SUN Jinghong, Vice Chancellor of USTB, attended the event and delivered a speech. The Jianbang Group and the heads of relevant units of USTB as well as the 2022 award-winning students participated in the activity. Mr. SHI Liwei, Dean of the Department of Student Affairs, presided over the donation and award ceremony.

At the donation ceremony, Mr. LV Chaowei, Director of the Department of Admissions and Career Services and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, introduced the university-enterprise cooperation between Jianbang Group and USTB. Subsequently, Prof. SUN Jinghong and Mr. WANG Guopeng signed the donation agreement of the "Shanxi Jianbang Fund", and issued the donation certificate and the bronze medal of education contribution award to the Jianbang Group.

During the award ceremony, Mr. SHI Liwei introduced the establishment of the "Shanxi Jianbang Scholarship" and its selection in 2022. After that, Ms. HE Jin, Director of the Office of the Alumni Association and Office of the USTB Education Development Foundation, read out the list of 2022 winners. Mr. WANG Guopeng and Prof. SUN Jinghong presented the honorary certificates to the winners respectively. Mr. GUO Zhichao, a Ph.D. student at the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials, made a speech on behalf of the award-winning students. He shared his efforts and progress in scientific research, learning, life, and other aspects since he became a student of USTB, and expressed his gratitude to the Jianbang Group.

Mr. WANG Guopeng said that the Jianbang Group has always attached great importance to the cooperation and development with USTB, the Group has donated a total of 3.7 million RMB to USTB to establish the "Jianbang Fund", and has introduced a large number of excellent graduates to work for Jianbang Group. He hoped that the two sides would continue to work together in the next decade to shoulder the important task of revitalizing the national industrial development and jointly promote high-quality green development of the social economy.

On behalf of USTB, Prof. SUN Jinghong expressed his sincere respect and heartfelt thanks to the Jianbang Group and warm congratulations to the award-winning students. He hoped that both parties would focus closely on the core elements of scientific research and innovation, enhance the capacity of scientific research and innovation, and make new and greater contributions to promoting the innovative and green low-carbon development of the iron and steel industry, and to building a world leader in science, technology, and manufacturing.

The "Shanxi Jianbang Fund" of USTB was established in 2012 with the donation of the Jianbang Group, in which the "Shanxi Jianbang Scholarship" is used to award outstanding students in metallurgical engineering and materials science related majors of USTB. In 2022, the Jianbang Group donated another 1.5 million yuan, mainly for the establishment of the "Shanxi Jianbang Scholarship" and the Shanxi Jianbang Employment Award, to support our teachers and students to go to Shanxi Jianbang Group to carry out social practice and research study.
