On the evening of July 2^nd, the closing ceremony of the 2022 Qingchunag Beijing “Challenge Cup” Business Plan Competition for Beijing-based College Students was successfully held online. Team USTB has won 16 gold medals, 21 silver medals, and 42 bronze medals in the Competition. It was the second consecutive time that team USTB topped the ranking in this Competition since 2021.

At the closing ceremony, Prof. LU Xin, Research Scientist from the USTB Institute of Engineering and Technology, Project Coordinator of the 2001 “Challenge Cup” National College Student Business Plan Competition, and the national great instructor of the 2021 “Challenge Cup” Competition delivered a warm message to college students in Beijing. Dr. Hussain M Irfan, Project Coordinator of the gold medal candidate projects (in the specialized competition for international students) recommended by USTB International Student Center gave a project presentation, showing the spirit of students and faculty of the university who are not afraid of challenges and seeking for new ideas.

In the main tracks of the Competition, team USTB won 8 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. Among them, the following projects won the gold medals: 

The “Whole Life Circle of Safe and Intelligent Pre-warning of Dynamic Disaster in Deep Engineering ” project was led by Ms. QIN Mengli, a graduate student from the School of Civil and Resources Engineering, and supervised by Prof. SONG Dazhao, Dr. HE Shengquan, and Prof. HE Xueqiu; 

The “Carbon Cycle Technology - The Innovator in the Recycling of Carbon Resources in Iron and Steel Industry ” project was led by Mr. XIA Tao, a graduate student from the School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering, and supervised by Prof. WEI Guangsheng, Prof. ZHU Rong, and Prof. DONG Kai; 

The “The First Vibration Reduction Technology of High Precision, Enhancing Regional Cooperation to Promote ‘China Innovation’” project was led by Mr. XU Xiaoyu, a graduate student from the School of Mechanical Engineering, and supervised by Prof. LIU Haiping; 

The “The Rallied Nation against the Pandemic – Be the ‘Umbrella’ of Intelligent Medical Care in the Battle of Covid-19” project was led by Ms. WANG Huilin, a graduate student from the School of Computer and Communication Engineering, and supervised by Prof. XIAO Ruoxiu; 

The “Conquer the World Problem of Male Sterility in Maize, Safeguard the Food Security of the Nation” project was led by Mr. PU Aqing, a graduate student from the School of Chemistry and Biological Engineering, and supervised by Prof. WAN Xiangyuan and Prof. WEI Xun; 

The “Intelligent Control of Zero-carbon - The First Platform for Energy Consumption Management at Product Line Level” project was led by Ms. WANG Xiaowen, a graduate student from the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and supervised by Dr. ZHANG Yongjun and Mr. HAO Yongfei; 

The “The Ultra-fine and High-temperature Resistant High Conductivity Self-lubricating Copper Alloy” project was led by Mr. LI Yang, a graduate student from the Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology, and supervised by Dr. CHEN Cunguang, Dr. YANG Fang, and Mr. ZHANG Deyin; 

The “The Leader in High-end Precision Heat Dissipation Materials for Integrated Circuit” project was led by Ms. JI Xiaoxia, a graduate student from the Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology, and supervised by Prof. QIN Mingli, Mr. ZHANG Deyin, and Ms. SUI Hui.

In addition, team USTB has won 8 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 39 bronze medals in other 5 specialized competitions.

The “Challenge Cup” National College Student Business Plan Competition is one of the high-level innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in China with the largest influence, the widest coverage, and the most difficult to win. This year’s “Challenge Cup” Competition was jointly organized by China Communist Youth League Beijing Committee, Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Beijing Association for Science and Technology, Beijing Municipal Commission of Rural Affairs, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, Beijing Youth Federation, and Beijing Students Federation. As the most competitive provincial-level competition, the Beijing-based “Challenge Cup” has prepared young talents for the high-quality development of innovation and entrepreneurship in Beijing.

USTB attaches great importance to the Competition. Led by Communist Youth League Committee, the Department of Academic Affairs, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, Graduate School, and International Student Center carried out the contest within the university, with a total of 920 projects and 4,464 participants. With the implementation of the USTB “Innovative Program”, more than 50 times of project orientation sessions and training have been organized to help the teams achieve good results. Going forward, the university will prepare for the “Challenge Cup” National College Student Business Plan Competition and strive for another success!
