On the afternoon of Sept. 20^th, the online donation ceremony for the “Mama Tung Grant” of USTB was held in the Jianlong Conference Hall. To subsidize the students from poor families, Ms. Susan Tung donated 1 million yuan to the USTB Education Development Foundation as the “Mama Tung Grant”.

Ms. Susan Tung, a philanthropist, a benefactor, and the President of the Shanghai Biaoheng Construction Engineering Co. LTD, and Prof. WANG Luning, Vice President of USTB, attended the donation ceremony. Heads from the Office of the USTB Education Development Foundation, the School of Marxism Studies, the Department of Student Affairs, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering, and representatives of donated students in 2022 participated in this activity. Mr. CHEN Dapeng, Associate Director at the Department of Student Affairs presided over the ceremony.

A short film of Ms. Tung’s story was shown at the beginning so that the students could learn about her childhood life, entrepreneurial experience, and the original intention of persistent donations to education. Ms. HE Jin, Head of Office of the Alumni Association and Office of the USTB Education Development Foundation, introduced the establishment background of the “Mama Tung Grant”. Mr. CHEN Dapeng announced the appraisal results of the grant. Prof. WANG Luning issued donation cards to the donated students. Representatives of donated students had a cordial conversation with Ms. TUNG and recited a letter to Ms. TUNG in order to express their gratitude and determination to set lofty goals.

Ms. Susan TUNG fully affirmed the evaluation of the “Mama Tung Grant” and encouraged the donated students to strive to change their destiny and contribute to the country with practical actions. She said that she is looking forward to communicating with students face to face on the campus of USTB.
