USTB Signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited

On September 22nd, USTB signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as CERI). Mr. YUE Wenyan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CERI, and Prof. ZHANG Weidong, Vice President of USTB attended the signing ceremony.

Before the signing ceremony, the two sides jointly visited the Business Hall and Digital Exhibition Hall of CERI and held a cordial and friendly discussion around scientific research cooperation, talent cultivation, internship, and employment.

Prof. ZHANG Weidong thanked CERI for its warm reception and introduced the development history of USTB. He pointed out that this year marks the 70th anniversary of our university, and President XI Jinping’s reply to the senior professors of USTB has inspired all the members of the university. Prof. ZHANG said that as the leader of the “National Metallurgical Construction Team” and the leader of the national exploration and design industry, CERI is a long-term strategic partner of USTB. The two sides have made remarkable achievements in the fields of scientific research cooperation, talent cultivation, etc. He hoped that the two sides would take this signing as a new starting point, \continue to promote the development of bilateral cooperation, to explore a new model of a win-win relationship between universities and enterprises, and work together to make greater contributions to building an innovative country and promoting high-quality development of the industry.

Mr. YUE Wenyan extended a warm welcome to Prof. ZHANG Weidong and his delegation and briefly introduced the history and the 14th Five-Year Plan of CERI. He pointed out that USTB was the first university specializing in iron and steel technology in China and enjoyed the reputation as the“Cradle of iron and steel engineers.” Since it was established 70 years ago, it has made outstanding contributions to national economic and social development. CERI has also gone through 71 years of glorious history. Both USTB and CERI are the first batch of iron and steel metallurgical units in China and have jointly witnessed and helped the development of the iron and steel industry in China. Mr. YUE Wenyan said as an important talent source of CERI, USTB has provided strong support for CERI in many aspects including scientific and technological research, talent cultivation, engineering project construction, etc. Mr. YUE Wenyan hopes that the two sides can carry out closer cooperation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

In the end, under the witness of all the participants, Prof. ZHANG Weidong and Mr. LI Wenjun, Deputy Secretary of CERI, signed the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both sides; Prof. ZHANG Weidong and Mr. YUE Wenyan jointly unveiled the USTB - CERI “Base of Employment and Internship and for College Students.”

Mr. ZHANG Chuanbo, Deputy General Manager of CERI, and heads of relevant functional departments, business organizations, and sub-business units of CERI, Prof. FENG Qiang, Dean of Department of Science and Technology, Mr. CHEN Yulai, Secretary General of the Party Committee of the Department of Science and Technology, relevant leaders and teachers from the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Computer and Communication Engineering, the Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Technology, the Technical Support Base for Prevention and Control of Major Accidents in Metal Smelting, and the Research Institute of Macro-safety Science attended the ceremony.
