On April 11^th, Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani, the cultural attaché of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in China visited our USTB. Prof. SUN Jinghong, Vice Chancellor of USTB, met with the guests and held a symposium together. Prof. ZHAO Baoyong, Director of the USTB International Student Center presided over the symposium.

Prof. SUN Jinghong extended a warm welcome to the visit of Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani and his delegation and introduced the USTB’s history, development, international cooperation, education of international students, etc. In his speech, he mentioned that President XI had replied to the letter from the representative of Saudi Chinese learners, encouraging them to learn Chinese and make a contribution to enhancing the friendship between Saudi Arabia and China. This is the second time that the international students at USTB received a reply from President XI. He hoped that the two sides could work together to build a deeper bond for friendly exchanges between China and Saudi Arabia and lay a solid foundation for the cultivation of international talents between the two countries.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani thanked USTB for its warm reception and extended his appreciation to the university for receiving and cultivating many outstanding Arab international students. In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani hoped that both sides could carry out more cooperation in science, culture, and many other aspects in the future, making joint efforts to enhance the exchanges and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China.

Subsequently, Prof. ZHANG Hu, Deputy Director of the USTB International Student Center, introduced the technological innovation work of USTB international students. The two sides conducted detailed discussions and exchanges on future education and cultural exchanges in China.

After the symposium, the delegation paid a visit to the USTB history museum and communicated with the Arab students on campus face to face.
