As the 38^th Teacher's Day approaches on September 9^th, the 2022 Teachers' Day Commendation Conference was held in Jianlong Conference Hall. Participating USTB leaders include Mr. WU Guilong, Chancellor of USTB; Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB; Mr. DAI Jinggang, Vice Chancellor and Secretary General of the Discipline Inspection Committee of USTB; Prof. LV Zhaoping and Prof. YAN Xiangbin, Vice Presidents of USTB;  Prof. YU Chengwen and Prof. SUN Jinghong, Vice Chancellors of USTB; Prof. HUANG Wunan, a standing member of the Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department of the CPC; Prof. PENG Qinghong, a standing member of the Party Committee and Director of Department of Public Affairs and Communications. Other faculties and students attended the conference online by watching live streaming. The conference was presided over by Prof. YU Chengwen.

Vice Chancellor YU Chengwen presided over the conference

The theme of the conference is "Welcome the 20^th National Congress of the Party and Nurture the Youth for the Nation". A video clip was played at the conference to show the earnest expectations from outstanding teachers' representatives to the new generation of young teachers and students' sincere gratitude and respect towards the young teachers.

Prof. QU Xuanhui spoke as a representative of award-winning teachers

The model teaching unit named after late geophysicist Prof. HUANG Danian, a professor at Jilin University, was awarded at the conference. Prof. QU Xuanhui, Dean of the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy, delivered a speech as the representative. He said that in response to President XI's reply to the senior professors of USTB, they would uphold the spirit of "being concerned about the collective identities and serving the country with sincerity," according to Prof. HUANG Danian, and strive to nurture more high-quality talents for the country.

Prof. LIU Baiyu made a speech

Prof. LIU Baiyu, a winner of the National May 1^st Labor Medal, also indicated that her achievements were inseparable from the help of USTB leaders and the guiding team. She also added that USTB's tradition of "inheritance, assistance, and guidance" and the contributions of USTB senior professors have always inspired young teachers to work hard and take on the responsibility of cultivating talents for the Party and the country.

Prof. ZHENG Lifang made a speech

Prof. ZHENG Lifang, a representative of Role Model Teachers, expressed in her speech that to be a good teacher entails incredible dedication to teaching and research, which comprises her inspiration and mission of being a teacher, and so did generations of USTB teachers.

Prof. GUO Hanjie made a speech on behalf of the senior professors

On behalf of the USTB senior professors, Prof. GUO Hanjie, winner of both the Gold Award of Professionalism and Retirement Award, recalled his teaching years in USTB and secured his achievements after schooldays. He also encouraged young teachers to take over the more arduous educational tasks entrusted by the times, continue to overcome more difficulties, and jointly build our school into a better place.

In his inspiring speech, Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, extended congratulations to all the awarded teachers and appreciation and holiday blessings to all USTB faculties as well as retired teachers who still devote themselves to the school. He also pointed out that President XI's reply to senior professors before the 70^th anniversary of USTB acknowledged our achievements over the past 70 years and set the course for future development direction, reflecting his concern toward us. Prof. YANG Renshu stressed that every USTB faculty was credited with this honor. Furthermore, Prof. YANG put forward three points on how to become a good teacher: first, to strengthen professional ethics; second, to stick to the inspiration of education; third, to devote to scientific and technological research to serve the country.

The conference also showcased the outstanding achievements gained by USTB faculties over the past year in talent cultivation, education, scientific research, and management. A list of awarded individuals and groups was released, among which there were 245 winners of the Award of Professionalism.

Ahead of Teacher's Day, Mr. WU Guilong, Prof. YANG Renshu, Prof. LYU Zhaoping, Prof. YU Chengwen, and Prof. SUN Jinghong respectively led a team to visit teachers in the front line of education.
