On the morning of March .23^rd, a delegation from the Severstal (Russian: Северсталь, lit. 'Northern Steel') and Beijing REALJD came to USTB. Prof. JIAO Shuqiang, Vice President of USTB, and Directors of various USTB Departments, including the Department of Technology Transfer, the Department of Admissions and Career Services, the Office of International Affairs, the School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering, and other units attended the symposium. Mr. LV Chaowei, Director of the Department of Admissions and Career Services and the head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, presided over the symposium.

Prof. JIAO Shuqiang delivered a welcome speech on behalf of USTB. He pointed out that China and Russia are friendly neighbors linked by waters and mountains. President XI Jinping paid a state visit to Russia recently, providing broad prospects for cooperation between the two countries. He said that the three sides attending the meeting are tied up by steel, and we sincerely hope that the three sides can continuously strengthen communication and cooperation, and provide new solutions and ideas for the green transformation and development of the steel industry together.

Dmitriew Aleksandr Aleksandrovich spoke at the symposium

Mr. Dmitriew Aleksandr Aleksandrovich, Chief Engineer of Severstal, introduced the basic information of Severstal in detail and demonstrated their advanced achievements in the field of iron and steel. He expressed the hope of conducting in-depth technical exchanges and cooperation with USTB and wishes to work together to contribute wisdom and strength to promote the innovative development of the steel industry and green and low-carbon development.

Mr. XU Ruitu spoke at the symposium

Mr. XU Ruitu, the Chairman of REALJD and alumnus of USTB, recalled his school life at USTB, and expressed his deep gratitude for his alma mater. He said that REALJD, a national high-tech enterprise providing high-performance refractory materials for blast furnaces, has been continuously developing and expanding in the past three decades. It is expected to carry out technical cooperation in more fields with Severstal and USTB in the future.
