On October 11^th, Mr. PENG Xuehai,the Deputy General and also a member of the Party committee of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology (hereinafter referred to as the “Bureau”); Mr.TANG Jianguo, Director of Department of Big Data Application and Industry at the Bureau; Mr.LENG Shaolin, Deputy Director of Materials Industry Department at the Bureau;, Ms.LI Zhiman, a fourth-level researcher of Materials Industry Department at the Bureau, and Mr. ZHANG Rui, a researcher of the Beijing International Data Exchange, visited the USTB Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Materials Genome Engineering (hereinafter referred to as the “Center”) for investigation and research. Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB; Prof.XIE Jianxin, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Center; Prof. WANG Luning, Vice President of USTB; Prof.FENG Qiang, Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology; and Prof.ZHANG Dawei, Director of the Office of International Affairs accompanied this visit. Prof.WANG Luning presided over the symposium.

On behalf of the university, Prof. YANG Renshu expressed a warm welcome to Deputy General and his delegation and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Beijing Municipal Government for the long-term support toward USTB. Prof. YANG Renshu introduced the current situation of USTB and said that USTB would make greater contributions to the municipal construction of Beijing and the development of advanced industries by concentrating its advantageous research resources in the future. Prof. WANG Luning gave a report on the construction goals of the Center, the building of the “Special Talent Zone” and the “Special Science & Technology Zone”, the representative scientific research achievements, and the service to the national strategic needs and the development of advanced industries in Beijing. Prof. XIE Jianxin introduced the progress made by the Center in materials data resource aggregation, database technology, and big data application in detail, as well as the preparation work of the National Innovation Center for New Materials Big Data Application.

Mr. PENG Xuehai fully affirmed the fruitful results of the Center in the first phase, and the solid work carried out in the field of materials big data. He said that the Beijing Municiapal Government attaches great importance to the construction of materials big data infrastructure and related industrial development, and hoped that USTB would speed up the preparation for the establishment of the National Innovation Center for New Materials Big Data Application, and unite with leaders of the industry in Beijing to establish a multi-level cooperation system and do well in the development and governance of data resources, further enhancing the role in service and support for the development of advanced industries in Beijing.
