The “Exploration of China – In Support of Technology” academic forum, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and organized by the University Science and Technology Beijing, was held at USTB on November 7th.
Zhao Baoyong, director of the International Student Center of USTB, said in his speech that the aim of the forum was to provide a platform for international students to show off their achievements and participate in academic exchanges, so as to broaden their academic vision, improve their academic level and enhance their innovative capabilities.
Special reports were delivered by four experts: Zhang Lin, executive dean of the School of Information and Communication Engineering, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications; Yang Yiyong, associate dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, China University of Geosciences (Beijing); Gong Lin, associate dean of the School of Mechanical & Vehicle Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology; and Xiao Wendong, professor of the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing. Their topics included “Intelligent Manufacturing -- Helping to Build a Better Earth,” “Artificial Intelligence and Non-Contact Sensing,” “Intelligent Manufacturing and Smart Manufacturing,” and “Smart Internet of Things: Innovations and Practice”.
In addition to the main forum, the two-day activity also included visits to USTB’s Changping Innovation Park, the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials, the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy, the Jingdong Intelligent Logistics Base and the Beijing Hyundai Motor Factory. Through a combination of academic exchange and practical lessons the students were given the opportunity to see the major advances made in Chinese intelligent manufacturing research and development.
Since 2015, the China Scholarship Council has organized activities as part of the “Exploration of China” program to help international students understand China’s social and economic development.
Attending the Forum were more than 100 international students and teachers from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, the Beijing Institute of Technology, the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), as well as members of the media.
