On June 1^st and 2^nd, Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, led a team to conduct an investigation and survey in Weifang and Linyi City successively in Shandong Province. The team visited enterprises, including Song Seoul Group Co., Ltd., Weichai Holding Group Co., Ltd., and Weifang Special Steel Group Co., Ltd., and had an informal discussion with local governments and enterprises to deepen university-locality and university-enterprise cooperation.

At the Weifang Steel Group, Mr. LIU Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Weifang, and Mr. DI Bo, Deputy Mayor of Weifang, received the team of Prof. YANG Renshu. A signing and launching ceremony was held between both sides for the USTB-Weifang Steel Joint Research Center. Prof. ZHANG Xiaofeng, Dean of the USTB Department of Technology Transfer, and Mr. ZAHNG Ze, Vice Manager of Weifang Steel Group, signed on behalf of both parties. Prof. YANG Renshu, and Mr. YU Guang, Chairman of the Board of Weifang Steel Group, inaugurated the Joint Research Center.

In the discussion for university-enterprise cooperation, Mr. ZHAO Zhongguo, Director of Weifang Science and Technology Bureau, gave an overall introduction of the Weifang City, and persons in charge from Weichai Group, Song Seoul Group, and Weifang Steel Group introduced their enterprises. Prof. YANG Renshu extended heartfelt thanks for the long-time concern and support from Weifang City and introduced the development of various works in USTB. He noted that on the occasion of one year after receiving President XI Jinping's reply letter to senior professors and putting into practice the spirits of the 20^th CPC National Congress, broader and deeper cooperation could be made with both Weifang municipal government and the local enterprises on fields, including talent cultivation, scientific research, result transformation, and social service.

During the investigation and survey in Linyi City, Mr. JUAN Xinyang, Deputy Mayor of Linyi, Mr. ZHUANG Shaochun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Lingang Special Area, and others received the delegation of USTB. They visited and investigated the Yimengshan Revolutionary Memorial Museum and the Linyi Ecological Park and negotiated cooperation on greening USTB's new campus in the Xiong'an New Area.

During the panel discussion, both sides expressed that they will continue to deepen cooperation in fields including education, science and technology, and talents cultivation so that with joint efforts, more contributions can be made to build a modern socialist country in all respects and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts. In the meantime, USTB signed cooperative agreements with Shandong Iron & Steel Group Yongfeng Lingang Corp. and Linyi Lingang Economic Development Area, respectively. Prof. YANG Renshu and Mr. JUAN Xinyang inaugurated the USTB-Linyi Lingang Economic Development Area Yimeng Industrial Technology Research Institute.

Relevant personnel from departments including the USTB Office of the Party Committee and Office of the President, Department of Academic Affairs, Graduate School, Department of Technology Transfer, Department of Admissions and Career Services, Headquarters of Xiong'an Campus Construction Project, School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Economics and Management, Guanzhuang Campus, and National Key Laboratory of Green and Low Carbon Steel Metallurgy participated in the investigation and exchange.
