From February 6^th to 8^th, Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, led a team to visit and investigate five enterprises, including Taishan Steel, Shandong Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd., Inspur, Shandong Energy Group and Shandong Gold Group Co., Ltd. and held discussions with of local alumni representatives to promote in-depth cooperation between USTB and enterprises. During the visit, Mr. Sun Bin, the Vice Mayor of Jinan, discussed with Prof. YANG Renshu. Prof. CAI Meifeng and Prof. MAO Xinping, members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Prof. ZHANG Weidong, Prof. WANG Luning, and Prof. JIAO Shuqiang, Vice Presidents of USTB, participated in the discussion.

Mr. SUN Bin communicated with Prof. YANG Renshu

During the visit, Prof. YANG Renshu expressed his gratitude to the five enterprises for their long-term care and support toward USTB and introduced the development of various university undertakings. He said that the university is thoroughly implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC and the important reply from President XI Jinping, and hoped that USTB would further broaden and deepen its cooperation with the five enterprises in talent cultivation, scientific research, achievement transformation, social services, and expanding positions through visiting enterprises. He pointed out that the joint exploration and implementation of the reform of the talent cultivation mode with enterprises is the key measure to implement the spirit of reply letters from President XI Jinping. The concept of the reform is to "tailor the education to the needs of the students" according to their characteristics and development aspirations and respond to the needs of our nation and the industry. Through cooperation with more than one hundred key enterprises in the industry, select and employ mentors from enterprises for students, realize the university-enterprise dual-mentorship guidance mode, promote the combination of the construction of university mentors echelon with the construction of enterprise talent base, and achieve the coordination and unification of talent cultivation, faculty construction, and scientific research innovation, to realize the "double transfer" of talents and achievements in the service industry, and ultimately make first-class contributions to national strategy.

Signing Ceremony with Taishan Steel

At Taishan Steel, the two sides signed the "Educational Development Foundation Donation Agreement" and the "Green Low Carbon Technology Innovation Center Cooperation Agreement.” Mr. SUN Bin and Mr. LI Guanghui, Mayor of Laiwu District, congratulated the cooperation between the two sides and said that the platform would have a positive and far-reaching impact on Laiwu District on scientific and technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and talent construction. Mr. WANG Yongsheng, Chancellor of Taishan Steel, accompanied the visit.

In Shandong Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd., Mr. HOU Jun, Chancellor of Shanshan Iron & Steel Group, introduced the reform and development of Shanshan Iron & Steel Group in recent years and expressed his gratitude for the long-term support and help from USTB. He hoped further to strengthen the collaboration and exchange between the two sides  and create a new situation of win-win cooperation. Mr. TAO Dengkui, General Manager of Shanshan Iron & Steel Group, attended the meeting and carried out in-depth communication on human resources, scientific & technological innovation, etc.

President YANG Renshu and Mr. ZOU Qingzhong had a discussion and exchange

At Inspur Co., Ltd., Mr. ZOU Qingzhong, Chancellor of Inspur Co., Ltd, hoped both sides would take this opportunity to strengthen resource sharing and cooperation. In terms of talent introduction and cultivation, it is expected that more and more graduates from USTB will come to Inspur's platforms across the country. Regarding university-enterprise communication, Inspur will carry out more diverse campus activities, career guidance activities, and interactive exchanges. Regarding business cooperation, Inspur will provide IT hardware infrastructure services and computing power support around USTB's information construction. In terms of scientific & technological innovation, Inspur will explore joint declarations around iron and steel, mining, and other fields to promote the digital transformation of related industries.

At Shandong Energy Group Co., Mr. LI Wei, Chancellor of Shandong Energy Group, said that the two sides have established a good cooperative relationship, jointly undertaken several provincial and ministerial key projects, solved some technical problems, and formed many original achievements, which provide strong support for the safe and high-quality development of the coal industry. He hoped that the two sides would take the opportunity of the signing of the contract to cooperate. He hoped that the two sides would take this signing as an opportunity to build an innovation model of close collaboration in scientific and technological research, talent training, and achievements transformation and open a new chapter of university-enterprise integration and industry-education integration development.

At Shandong Gold Group Co. Ltd., Mr. LI Hang, Chancellor and General Manager of Shandong Gold Group expressed his gratitude for the long-term help and support from the USTB and introduced the reform and development of the group and the promotion of strategic planning. He said that over the years, the two sides have carried out deep and high-quality, practical cooperation in joint talent cultivation, research on major topics, construction of scientific and technological platforms, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, realizing complementary advantages, resource sharing, and win-win development. He hoped that both sides would give full play to their respective advantages on the existing good foundation, deepen and expand the cooperation fields, and work together in the same direction and hand in hand to create a brighter future.

During the visit to Shandong province, Prof. YANG Renshu and his delegation also met with the members of the preparatory groups of the Shandong Alumni Association, Qingdao Alumni Association, and Yantai Alumni Association. Ms. HOU Huimin, the initiator of the Shandong Alumni Association, introduced the progress of the preparatory work of the Shandong Alumni Association and said that she would build an open and diversified alumni information-sharing platform for USTB and Shandong alumni. Ms. WANG Jinghua, the person in charge of the Qingdao Alumni Association renewal preparation group, and Ms. ZHANG Huiqiu, the person in charge of the Yantai Alumni Association preparation group, introduced the preparation situation of the two places, respectively. Prof. YANG Renshu expressed his gratitude and full affirmation for the work of the alumni associations, and introduced the development of USTB to the alumni in recent years. He hoped that the Shandong Alumni Association could further improve the work of contacting alumni, serving alumni, and uniting alumni and further promote the exchange and cooperation between USTB and the government, enterprises, and institutions in Shandong.
