On the afternoon of July 6th, the USTB-DMU Confucius Institute (CI) held a "China Day" event at Beauchamp College in Leicester, UK.
The CI sent three teachers and invited Derek Frearson, the headmaster of the International Taijiquan and Shaolin Wushu Association, to jointly teach Chinese Taiji Fan Dance and Taijiquan basic routines to the seventh-grade students of Beauchamp College. The children were very fascinated by the combination of rigidity and softness in Taiji Fan Dance. Under the careful guidance of the teachers of the CI, they quickly caught up on the key movements. Master Derek had a rich teaching experience, and his martial arts skills were deeply attractive to the students. After a short class, the children also played Taijiquan's basic actions well.

After two hours of teaching activities, students also showed live performances of two projects. As they were leaving, the students gave each teacher a thanks card filled with signatures. This event was also highly appreciated by the head teachers. They expressed wishes for more such collaboration with the CI in the future.
