On March 1^st, Mr. ZHANG Enhui, Member of the Standing Committee of Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, led a delegation to USTB for communication and exchanges. Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, Prof. SHAO Anlin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. SUN Jinghong, Vice Chancellor of USTB, and Prof. ZHANG Weidong, Vice President of USTB, attended the meeting. Prof. YANG Renshu delivered a speech

Prof. YANG Renshu extended a warm welcome to Mr. ZHANG Enhui and his delegation. He introduced the development of USTB in discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, and other aspects in detail. He pointed out that USTB is closely connected with Changchun City, Jilin Province, and has established a deep friendship in a long time of practice. In recent years, USTB has undertaken a large number of state-key research programs together with universities, enterprises, and research institutes in Jilin Province. In cooperation with FAW-Volkswagen and other firms in Jilin Province, USTB has also won more than ten science awards above the provincial or ministerial level.

He also said that USTB will take the signing of the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Jilin Province as an opportunity to make full use of the merit in disciplines, scientific research, and talent cultivation, according to the industrial characteristics and innovation advantages of Changchun, promoting the deep integration of local-university and industry-university collaboration. Enabling science and technology innovation to lead industrial innovation and comprehensively integrate into the economic and social development of Changchun City, Jilin Province. Also, continuous cooperation in education, science, and technology, as well as talent cultivation, should be continuously deepened to promote the development of new-quality productivity with mutual benefit and achieve high-quality development for both sides.

Mr. ZHANG Enhui conveyed greetings from the Jilin Provincial Government's main leaders to all members of USTB and expressed his gratitude to USTB for its long-term care and support for the development of Jilin Province and Changchun City. He briefly introduced the basic economic and social development situation in Changchun City and the intention of further collaboration with USTB in transforming scientific research achievements and constructing future industrial parks. He said that it is urgent for high-quality development to open up new fields and new roads with scientific and technological innovation and to shape new kinetic energy and new advantages. Changchun deeply implements the speech of President XI Jinping in the new era to promote the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China, promotes the development of scientific and technological innovation, attaches great importance to the transformation of scientific and technological achievements of universities, and makes great efforts to lay out the cultivation of future industries. He hoped to form a close partnership with USTB to promote the transformation of project results, focus on the cultivation of talents, identify the emphasis on cooperation, accelerate the gathering of human resources and innovation elements in Changchun, and promote the development of talents and innovation solidly and concretely.

Subsequently, Prof. SHAO Anlin, Mr. SHI Wei, Deputy Director of Changchun New District Management Committee, Mr. YU Baisheng, Director of Changchun Science and Technology Bureau, Mr. WANG Bin, General Manager of USTB Capital Management Limited Corporation, and Prof. WAN Xiangyuan, Dean of Research Center of Biology and Agriculture expressed the demands for cooperation separately. The two sides exchanged ideas about the construction of future industrial science and technology parks, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and other related areas of cooperation.

The delegation also visited the USTB State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and the USTB Materials Research Institute for Advanced Interdisciplinary Science and Technology.
