The IETC is derived from the Sino-Germany-Poland Environmental Technology Conference and has been held six times. Of those times USTB hosted the conference in 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2016. Since its founding the IETC has attracted much international attention and has become a focal point for researchers to meet and discuss issues in the field of environmental engineering. At the conference there were 9 sub-forums to discuss issues including water and sewage treatment, industrial pollution control, the treatment and disposal of agricultural waste, heavy metal pollution control and restoration, solid waste treatment and resource utilization, nanomaterials and ecological sanitation. In addition there was a forum established for young scientists, with the conference offering an opportunity for researchers to discuss new cutting-edge technologies and research breakthroughs, as well as practical applications of theoretical research.
