The delegation inspected the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Materials Genome Engineering, USTB

Mr. ZHANG Ge and his delegation first came to the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Materials Genome Engineering (hereinafter referred to as the "Advanced Center") and the National Material Corrosion and Protection Data Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Corrosion Center"). In the exhibition hall of the Advanced Center, Prof. WANG Luning made a key introduction to the construction goals of the Advanced Center that it would focus on the development needs of the capital's high-tech industry and explore the construction of the “talent special zone”. He also made an introduction to the Center’s global platform building for outstanding scientists in the field of materials and the awards for important scientific research achievements. The head of the Corrosion Center reported on the construction of the industry-university-research collaboration innovation system of “basic research - applied technology - engineering transformation - shared services” of new corrosion-resistant materials for infrastructure construction, high-end equipment manufacturing, new material research and development, and other major national needs.

Mr. ZHANG Ge and his delegation then went to the central control room of the Security Department to inspect the construction of the comprehensive service management platform “Safe Campus”. He then inquired about some relevant work such as personnel trajectory tracing, vehicle management, security monitoring, etc., and listened to the work report of the Security Department and the Department of Student Affairs on university safety and stability and student education and management.

After the inspection, Mr. ZHANG Ge and his delegation held a meeting in the Administration Building. Mr. WU Guilong made a report on the topic of “Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the 13th Party Congress of Beijing Municipality and Making USTB’s Contributions to the Development of the Capital in the New Era”. He introduced school work in the aspect of talent cultivation, discipline construction, scientific research, social services, and so on in recent years.

Mr. ZHANG Ge listened to the report and fully affirmed the achievements made by USTB. He pointed out that the university should deeply study and implement the spirit of the 13th Party Congress of Beijing Municipality and focus on the strategic layout of the capital in the new era, aiming at improving the quality of talent training, industry-university-research integration, and the needs of national strategic development. He also claimed that USTB should further deepen communication and cooperation with relevant departments in Beijing, improve the transformation mechanism of scientific and technological achievements and promote the output of more scientific and technological innovation results. He stressed that the university should give full play to the advantages of organizational momentum and ideological and political work and continuously consolidate the construction of grass-roots party organizations to strengthen the ideological guidance of students and staff, create a high-quality talent team so as to lead the high-quality development of the university with high-quality party construction.
